Ajaxian » MooTools and Sizzle

by François Hodierne

Valerio Proietti has written a thoughtful post on why MooTools won’t use Sizzle (and tries to argue why other libraries shouldn’t).

...

I don’t expect every library will drop its own engine and plugin Sizzle right away. However, if done correctly, Sizzle can be an area of collaboration. If it becomes “John’s Library” that is one thing, but you will note that there have already been patches from the Prototype folks and maybe others. Sizzle could be a playground for innovation itself.

La syntaxe déclarative est la plus simple des deux syntaxes disponible avec dojo (l'autre étant la syntaxe programmatique mais, du même coup, la moins flexible.)

Google AJAX Search API Blog: Speed up access to your favorite frameworks via the AJAX Libraries API

by parmentierf & 1 other (via)
The AJAX Libraries API is an attempt to make Web applications faster for developers in simple ways: * Developers won't have to worry about getting caching setup correctly, as we will do that for you * If another application uses the same library (much more likely), they there is a much better chance that it will be already caching on the users machine * The network and bandwidth of the users systems will not be taxed.

Unit Testing Custom Code with the Dojo Objective Harness

by chantal (via)
Many Dojo developers are aware of the Dojo Objective Harness (DOH) that the Dojo Toolkit uses for unit testing. Many people, however, want to use DOH for testing their own code or even non-Dojo code that they have written. While DOH has always supported this, there currently aren’t many examples of doing so. Let’s see if we can help that out.

dojo, the Javascript Toolkit: brought to you by the Dojo Foundation

by pvergain & 67 others (via)
The Dojo Toolkit is only one of the projects that the Dojo Foundation hosts. In addition to the toolkit, OpenRecord and the Cometd project call the Dojo Foundation home. OpenRecord's pure-JavaScript semi-structured content store makes organizing data simpler and faster without the up-front overhead of knowing what you're going to add before you add it. Cometd is working to make implementing, deploying, and integrating Comet clients and servers into existing web infrastructures.
