Been there for the first (and last) time in 2003 (I met AG at this time ;) ) and what you have written relates to my own perception. There is something though. You *have to* be a social butterfly to engage discussions and that is not necessary easy for everyone to do that.
I almost went this year, but declined again. It is also difficult to see the value coming from Montréal (even more so from Tokyo) for the cost of the conference the hotel the food price the plane ticket. It requires to be a very strong business case for a small Web, Design, Dev agency to send at least one person there.
That would be interesting to make another blog post on what does it cost to go to SXSW?
Weightshift: SXSW Infographics
non je ne vais pas à SXSWSouth By Southwest is an annual conference spanning film, interactive and music held in Austin, Texas. For over a week, thousands of people roam Austin learning, educating, listening and experiencing the conference. We’ve attended the conference since 2007 and Naz Hamid collected his experiences for each year and compiled them into a informational infographic (2007) and a timeline infographic (2008). 2009 was sketched in a Muji Chonotebook and for 2010, there may be something else. Maybe.
