CMON is a daemon that aggregates information from MySQL Cluster that earlier was only accessible from the cluster log or the management client, such as: * cluster state * node state * backup statistics * statistics * cluster events (cluster log basically) .. and let's you access the information using SQL, because CMON logs the information into ordinary MYISAM tables! So, it is really easy to use! In the package you also get get php scripts that you can put on your webserver to generate graphs and get a www interface to CMON. CMON can also start ndbd nodes and make decisions on how they should be started (with or without --initial). CMON starts as a daemon and will automatically create cmon database and install the necessary tables automatically.

KarKomaOnline - Implementing High Availability in MySQL

by holyver & 2 others (via)
MySQL provides a built-in data replication functionality for maintaining identical copies of its data to one or more backend servers, thus providing a simple High Availability mechanism. On the other hand, the Open Source community has several projects to implement failover techniques, being one of them Heartbeat. This article will show you how to implement a clustered, highly available and inexpensive solution based on GNU/Linux and combining MySQL as the database engine and Heartbeat as the failover mechanism. The configuration will consist of a 2-node active/passive cluster.

C-JDBC User's Guide

by holyver
C-JDBC is a database cluster middleware that allows any Java™ application (standalone application, servlet or EJB™ container, ...) to transparently access a cluster of databases through JDBC™. You do not have to modify client applications, application servers or database server software. You just have to ensure that all database accesses are performed through C-JDBC.

pgpool

by rodo
pgpool is a connection pool server for PostgreSQL. pgpool runs between PostgreSQL's clients(front ends) and servers(back ends). A PostgreSQL client can connect to pgpool as if it were a standard PostgreSQL server. pgpool caches the connection to PostgreSQL server to reduce the overhead to establish the connection to it. Also, pgpool can use two PostgreSQL servers for fail over. If the first server goes down, pgpool will automatically switch to the secondary server.
