Apache / Sling : développer en Java pour le Web - Journal du Net > Développeurs

by parmentierf

Apache UIMA - Apache UIMA

by ogrisel & 1 other (via)
Unstructured Information Management applications are software systems that analyze large volumes of unstructured information in order to discover knowledge that is relevant to an end user. UIMA is a framework and SDK for developing such applications. An example UIM application might ingest plain text and identify entities, such as persons, places, organizations; or relations, such as works-for or located-at. UIMA enables such an application to be decomposed into components, for example "language identification" -> "language specific segmentation" -> "sentence boundary detection" -> "entity detection (person/place names etc.)". Each component must implement interfaces defined by the framework and must provide self-describing metadata via XML descriptor files. The framework manages these components and the data flow between them. Components are written in Java or C ; the data that flows between components is designed for efficient mapping between these languages. UIMA additionally provides capabilities to wrap components as network services, and can scale to very large volumes by replicating processing pipelines over a cluster of networked nodes. Apache UIMA is an Apache-licensed open source implementation of the UIMA specification (that specification is, in turn, being developed concurrently by a technical committee within OASIS , a standards organization). We invite and encourage you to participate in both the implementation and specification efforts.

Introducing the Java Content Repository API

by holyver (via)
There are several approaches that I could take when discussing the JCR. In this article, I examine the features offered by the JSR-170 specification from a developer's perspective, focusing on the available API and the interfaces that allow a programmer to efficiently use the JSR-170 repository in designing a content application. As an artificial example, I'll implement a trivial back end for a Wikipedia-like encyclopedia system, called JCRWiki, with support for binary content, versioning, backup, and search. I use Apache Jackrabbit, an open source implementation of JSR-170, to develop this application.

InfoQ: Java Content Repository 2.0: Public Review

The second version of the JCR API has been released for public review as JSR-283 and, at the same time, the first version (JSR-170) has been doing well: Jackrabbit is now a top-level Apache project

ONLamp.com -- The lighttpd Web Server

by parmentierf & 1 other (via)
Until recently, Apache didn't have a serious open source rival. In Netcraft's latest web server survey, we can see one emerging. As always, Apache has the top spot, Microsoft's IIS is second, and the ever-popular unknown is third. Fourth is Sun's Java Web Server (formerly known as ONE, formerly iPlanet, formerly Netscape). But at number five, serving about 1.4 million sites, is something called lighttpd. Where did that come from? We'll look into lighttpd's history, basic installation and configuration, and some visions of the future.

Downloading a Binary File from a Web Service using Axis2 and SOAP with Attachments

by yatahonga & 1 other
Apache Axis2 is well supported for sending and receiving binary payloads with SOAP using several standard mechanisms such as Base64 encoded binary, SOAP Message Transmission Optimization Mechanism (MTOM) and SOAP with Attachments (SwA).

Jakarta Commons Configuration

by roulian & 1 other

Apache Derby

by roulian & 1 other
Apache Derby, an Apache DB subproject, is an open source relational database implemented entirely in Java and available under the Apache License, Version 2.0. Some key advantages include: * Derby has a small footprint -- about 2 megabytes for the base engine and embedded JDBC driver. * Derby is based on the Java, JDBC, and SQL standards. * Derby provides an embedded JDBC driver that lets you embed Derby in any Java-based solution. * Derby also supports the more familiar client/server mode with the Derby Network Client JDBC driver and Derby Network Server. * Derby is easy to install, deploy, and use.

Jakarta Commons

Une courte introduction à Apache Ant

by roulian
