WYSIWYG editors (in fact all GUI applications) need simple, invariable rules. Unfortunately, HTML5 is full of rules with exceptions, or rules too complex for authoring tools to implement.

I'm pretty sure that textile is the right way to produce content for the web, and that WYSIWYG editors are bad for your website. But editing a large chunk of textile using a textarea is not fun. I usually use Textmate to edit textile content, and wanted to reproduce the same feeling inside a browser.
The best online text editor is currently Bespin and I gave it a try. Unfortunately, the current state of bespin make it pretty difficult to embed the editor itself in a standalone way. Moreover I needed specifics features like 'soft wrap' that is totally required to edit some textile content.
So I took the Bespin way, and started to hack using javascript and HTML5 canvas to create a simple, standalone and totally embeddable textile editor for the web.

Just push the right buttons on the dash and the computer will take care of the rest. It’s as easy as driving a car!
I hope you’d say, “thanks but no thanks.” Sure, someday that will be a reality, but you realize that right now flying is a much more complex operation than driving. You’re operating in three dimensions instead of two; there are more external factors, like weather and turbulence; you can’t just pull over onto the shoulder. The consequences of making wrong choices are much higher and aviation AI just isn’t sophisticated or trustworthy enough yet.

Nvu n'est plus maintenu depuis plusieurs années. Nous vous conseillons d'utiliser plutôt KompoZer, qui est une version dérivée de Nvu, et qui contient des correctifs pour des bogues existant dans Nvu. Vous pouvez consulter l'article sur Geckozone pour avoir plus de détails sur l'histoire de KompoZer. Le site officiel de KompoZer (en anglais). Nous vous proposons ici des paquetages francisés de KompoZer. En effet, les versions disponibles sur le site officiel proposent des versions en anglais sur lesquelles il faut ensuite installer le paquetage linguistique français. Il apporte de nombreuses améliorations. La Version 0.8 stable qui sera disponible durant l'été 2009, stabilité parfaite,code basé maintenant sur le moteur Gecko 1.8. L'interface utilisateur offre de nouveaux outils (DOM, CSS, modification du code, mise en évidence des blocs,...).
