This is an attempt to create cover art for every great magazine I own (+ a few I wish I owned). It's never a straight crib, the source magazines are a jumping-off point for my imagination...
... and covering covers is a theme that lets me combine some of my favourite things; portraiture, typography, pencils and graphic design.
The occasional photos illustrate my current process: I draw A3 & A4 sections which I sometimes collage or retouch in Photoshop.
The COVERS typeface is Akka (a nod to Carlo Scarpa) redrawn by hand, of course.

Oreo Truffles

1 package oreo cookies (divided… use cookie including the cream center)
1 8oz. package cream cheese (softened)
white chocolate bark
1. Finely crush 7 cookies in a food processor or place them in a ziploc bag and crush into a fine consistency. Reserve for later.
2. Crush remaining cookies and stir in softened cream cheese. Use the back of a large spoon to help mash the two together.
3. Roll the mixture into 1" balls and place on wax paper covered cookie sheet.
4. Melt chocolate as directed on the package and then dip balls into chocolate, tap off extra and set aside on wax paper covered cookie sheet to dry. You can sprinkle the tops with the 7 crushed cookies for decoration. (I usually eat mine before they make it to this stage.)
5. Once dry, refrigerate and enjoy!
Makes about 36 truffles.

Un bouquet de chaînes thématiques pour une diffusion en continu des meilleures vidéos de glisse du moment en accès gratuit. Une ligne éditoriale sans concession, centrée sur la qualité de l'action et de l'image.
Si plusieurs sites diffusent déjà nombre de vidéos de glisse, chacun se cantonne souvent à une discipline propre. waxup.tv dépasse le cloisonnement en proposant un contenu varié, de qualité, capable de toucher l’ensemble de la communauté : du surfeur au snowboarder, du skater au windsurfeur. Les vidéos sont agrégées au sein d'un flux linéarisé… comme à la télé. L’internaute-spectateur peut ainsi choisir sa chaîne et regarder en boucle les vidéos qui y sont uploadées : pas d’attente, pas de téléchargement, les vidéos sont diffusées en temps réel.
Ce bouquet de chaînes thématiques qui a vu le jour grâce à la technologie Vpod.tv (service novateur de publication de vidéo à la demande plusieurs fois récompensés), associée aux compétences de WAX UP dans les sports de glisse et le nautisme, a pour objectif de fédérer la grande tribu des riders. Directement ancré dans l'ère du web 2.0, l’esprit de waxup.tv pourrait se traduire par "un web participatif mais sélectif". En effet, WAX UP offre la possibilité à l'ensemble de la communauté (de l’amateur aux grandes marques) de publier et de valoriser ses vidéos.. Il est clair que WAX UP assure une sélection éditoriale (sur le fond et la forme) avant de diffuser on-line les différentes productions. Chaque mois, WAX UP apporte du contenu frais sur une chaîne dédiée aux nouveautés, toutes disciplines confondues.
Au-delà de l’action pure, waxup.tv se veut un media ouvert à l’ensemble de la "culture glisse" en diffusant notamment des clips musicaux ou les teasers de films, sans oublier de s'engager pour les causes fondamentales (humaines et environnementales) en relayant le contenu d'associations telles que Intervida, Surfrider Foundation ou Greenpeace sur la chaîne Eco and co.

On October 22, 1938, when American inventor Chester Carlson together with German immigrant Otto Kornei first transferred an image from a glass microscope slide to a sheet of wax paper using method later called electrophotography.
Kornei wrote the words “10.-22.-38 ASTORIA.” in ink on a glass microscope slide. Then the experimentalists prepared a zinc plate with a sulphur coating, darkened the room, rubbed the sulphur surface with a handkerchief to apply an electrostatic charge. After that they laid the slide on the zinc plate, exposing it to a bright, incandescent light.

Hear British poets read 21 of their own poems, including, incredibly, Alfred, Lord Tennyson's 1890 reading of "The Charge of the Light Brigade," as recorded by agents of Thomas Alva Edison on one of the inventor's wax cylinders. Other poets include notables such as Ogden Nash, Ted Hughes, Sylvia Plath, and Stevie Smith. Each poem is briefly introduced with information about the poet and the background of the poem.
