ArtistX is a free live GNU/Linux DVD which turns a common computer into a full multimedia production studio.
It is based on Ubuntu GNU/Linux and contains nearly all the available free audio, 2D and 3D graphics, and video software for the GNU/Linux computing platform. It doesn't need to be installed, and boots directly into a running system without touching hard drives. The files produced with ArtistX can be easily stored on USB devices or CD/DVD medium while it is running. If you want to install it please take a look to our documentation to the ArtistX Installation Manual (Live DVD section).

CESSA: Montreal Sound Map

We are aiming to create an archival database of sound recordings from all over Montréal. The Montréal Sound Map is an ongoing and continually evolving project with the goal of a constant addition of new recordings being placed into a browsable tagging system (see road map).

If you have ever wanted to remotely control a computer running iTunes then this is your solution. Using the remote Mac's Bonjour name or I.P. address you can control most of the basic iTunes functions without ever touching the remote Mac. Play/Pause the music, make new playlists, turn the volume up or down, search the music database, and have fun!

All this makes the raw computation speed of javascript much closer to Flash, but Flash still wins for vector graphics and I don’t see canvas or SVG touching it soon (although if it’s in IE8 I may change my story…)

Again sitting comfortably on a chair or on a cushion, take a few gentle deep breaths to relax your body. Now allow your upper body to slowly begin swaying in a clockwise direction, whilst simultaneously pressing the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth. Do this for 2 or 3 minutes. This stimulates the pituitary gland.
Next, whilst still sitting upright, slowly tip your head forward until your chin is nearly touching your chest. Hold this position for a few seconds and then begin moving your head backwards, as far as is comfortable, so you are looking up at the sky and hold this position for a few seconds. Next, bring your head back to an upright position and slowly tip your head sideways as far as is comfortable, first to the left and then the right, holding for a few seconds in each position. Repeat this pattern once more. This stimulates the thyroid gland in the throat area.
Finally, begin to gently tap the area in the centre of your chest, 2 inches above where the centre of the rib cage ends. Do this for 1 or 2 minutes. This stimulates the thymus gland.
This meditation encourages the activity of these three crucial glands in our body which release the hormones that control: happiness, metabolism and growth, and the immune system.

The Breadboard Band is a performing band that uses breadboards made of freely constructed electronic circuits to play music. We produce audio and visual expression through the most minimal, fundamental elements in the form of showing the electronic components of an instrument while directly touching and forming the electronic circuit by hand. The electric signals released from hand-made electronic circuits releases extremely rough and ferocious wave patterns. This performance is based on improvisational interplay, and we pull powerful music into shape through each member's operation, while discovering new sounds by hand.
