WordPress › Post Templates « WordPress Plugins

by mozkart (via)
It happens quite often that a blogger publishes posts or static pages on a regular basis which have the same structure. Think about for example a "picture of the day" daily post. With current wordpress state, we need to spend a lot of time doing copy/paste between posts instead of actually writing content. All the instructions for installation, the support forums, etc. can be found on the plugin home page. IMPORTANT: LICENSE CHANGE Since version 4.0.0, the plugin has become a commercial plugin. It can be ordered (for cheap) on the plugin home page. Version 3.4.x will remain available for download for free on the WordPress plugin repository. No further development will be made on this version.

Use WordPress As a CMS: Plugins, The Bare Minimum

by mozkart
How to use WordPress as a CMS is a popular question. Especially when you want to quickly throw up what is sometimes called “The Brochure Site”. Yep, that hoary throwback to Web 1.0, the static site. You’re going to template the site in PHP anyway, right? Why not just use WordPress and give your client the option of updating their content, while a million or so developers are working behind the scenes to make sure the code powering your site is the best it can be? Not a tough choice. Besides, no one said it had to be completely static, did they? Here’s the rundown on a few plugins, the bare minimum you’ll need, that’ll turn a simple static site into a blazing fast dynamic one, with easily managed content, that you’ll love to use.

An Informal Catalogue of Slit-Scan Video Artworks and Research - Golan Levin and Collaborators

Slitscan imaging techniques are used to create static images of time-based phenomena. In traditional film photography, slit scan images are created by exposing film as it slides past a slit-shaped aperture. In the digital realm, thin slices are extracted from a sequence of video frames, and concatenated into a new image.

Add Links To WordPress List Pages - This, WordPress, Page, ‘Example, Example, Subpage - WP Engineer

by mozkart (via)
Not infrequently, the menus on blogs, created with WordPress, having static links. This may initially seem easier and less trouble, but if changes or maintenance by users who have no knowledge or access to the templates occur, it is cumbersome and error prone. Therefore I prefer to use the necessary template tags and using the help of parameters that are not desirable (exclude) or desired (include) pages load. In addition, you can add content via the Hook, which I will explain briefly.

You can drop Scaffold into your site and you’ll instantly have access to all of its functionality.

DryDrop

by karlcow

It is simple. Let's say you have GitHub repo containing static web site and you want to host it on App Engine. DryDrop is an application ready to be uploaded as your App Engine project. When you upload it first time, you should setup post-receive hook in your GitHub repo to point to your App Engine project, so every change you push to GitHub can be reflected on your App Engine site immediately.

Let's say someone visits your App Engine site. DryDrop has a simple cache. If requested page is not in the cache, DryDrop will try to fetch it from GitHub, store it in the cache and then serve it. Next time the same URL is requested, it will be served directly from DryDrop cache.

Let's say you did some changes to your files. In the moment you push file changes into GitHub, post-receive hook will ping DryDrop and that invalidates modified files in the cache. Next request will trigger downloading of fresh files from GitHub.
