TodoMVC

by srcmax
Developers these days are spoiled with choice when it comes to selecting an MV* framework for structuring and organizing their JavaScript web apps. Backbone, Ember, AngularJS, Spine... the list of new and stable solutions continues to grow, but just how do you decide on which to use in a sea of so many options? To help solve this problem, we created TodoMVC - a project which offers the same Todo application implemented using MV* concepts in most of the popular JavaScript MV* frameworks of today.

Oculus Rift (developer kit) Specs & Latest News | Oculus | The Verge

by sbrothier
The Oculus Rift uses two lenses in a ski mask-style head-mounted display that combine to form a 1280 x 800 display. Each eye sees 640 x 800 pixels and while that still sounds like a low resolution in 2013, you can't judge the product on that single spec alone. The rest of the hardware simply consists of a break-out control box you use to plug the Rift into your computer; it features DVI, HDMI, micro-USB and power.

w00t! Excellent bass and nice sounds picked on this cover. There's been a lot of good sounds in the "Double the Trouble!" OCR album, but this is the mastertrack imho.

Developing Game Audio with the Web Audio API - HTML5 Rocks

by sbrothier
Audio is a huge part of what makes multimedia experiences so compelling. If you've ever tried watching a movie with the sound off, you've probably noticed this. Games are no exception! My fondest video game memories are of the music and sound effects. Now, in many cases nearly two decades after playing my favorites, I still can't get Koji Kondo's Zelda compositions and Matt Uelmen's atmospheric Diablo soundtrack out of my head. The same catchiness applies to sound effects, such as the instantly recognizable unit click responses from Warcraft, and samples from Nintendo's classics. Game audio presents some interesting challenges. To create convincing game music, designers need to adjust to potentially unpredictable game state a player finds themselves in. In practice, parts of the game can go on for an unknown duration, sounds can interact with the environment and mix in complex ways, such as room effects and relative sound positioning. Finally, there can be a large number of sounds playing at once, all of which need to sound good together and render without introducing performance penalties.

Modern Ruins – Piramida | gebrueder beetz filmproduktion

by gregg
Pyramiden, the former Soviet coal town in Svalbard with the most northern Lenin-monument of the world, was for almost 80 years the communist advance guard in the capitalist abroad. Ceded by Norway in 1920, confirmed in a special agreement, about 1.000 workers mined coal in the short summers and long winters in the middle of the Arctic Ocean. They were compensated by relatively luxurious living conditions. With the collapse of Communism, the end of Pyramiden began. Nowadays the town is a stony monument for the decline of the Soviet Union and is rediscovered by tourists, exploited by junk dealers and resettled by polar bears, arctic foxes and sea gulls.
