Freevo is an open source HTPC media centre software integrating PVR / DVR funtionality along with music, video, gaming, home automation and more. It is written in python and uses existing popular software such as mplayer, xine and vlc. Primarily aimed at the Linux platform it is also possible to run on OSX and for the determined on Windows. It is the main mythtv alternative.

QuickStart Configures Your Ubuntu System Without Terminal Work

Linux only: QuickStart, a free automation utility for Ubuntu Linux systems, makes it easy to perform partial or full system backups of any partition, synchronize folders and update them on a schedule, and take care of other tasks a beginner would normally need to spend serious time researching. The tiny app opens a simple interface listing your choices, although dialog prompts guide you through any steps requiring input. The tools for installing DVD playing codecs, backing up your Master Boot Record, and creating synchronized backups seem particularly helpful, and while I haven't tested every function, a handful of them completed without any problems. QuickStart is a free download for Ubuntu systems only; both links below carry non-terminal installation instructions for the script.

JkDefragGUI is an Graphical User Interface which allows you to easily select all the features JkDefrag, a freeware defragmentation tool made by Jeroen Kessels has to offer. But is can do a lot more. JkDefragGUI can schedule a defragmentation, install JkDefrag or it's screensaver but can also do some small maintenance to your computer. It can be used to schedule a defragmentation of your systemfiles like pagefile and registry files. JkDefragGUI also supports CCleaner which can be used instead of the internal cleaning function. It can also erase any information which is left behind on your harddisk after erasing files.

"RadioWave aggregates schedules for different radio stations (currently 40 stations) to allow listeners to browse all shows across stations by day or hour. Stations format their schedules differently and those schedules are often difficult to navigate. RadioWave gathers the information in one place and with a single, simple formatting scheme. The RadioWave server stores future schedules (normalized to GMT) as they are available.
The RadioWave site is organized under the following tabs: 1. The By Hour tab displays the schedule for streaming stations listed by hour and day. 2. The By Station tab displays the schedule for streaming stations list by station. 3. The By Person tab displays a catalogue of streaming and downloadable files listed by person. 4. The Files tab displays a catalogue of downloadable files listed by Web site. 5. The Search tab presents a search form to search streaming stations and downloadable files.
