"Yahoo! gained 0.5 percentage points in comScore search engine rankings for January 2009. Google just happened to lose the same amount of percentage points during the same month.
But they're not the only two swapping points. Microsoft stole 0.2% from Ask.com."

Still far too high a percentage and enough to make you grown. Also, the last few pounds are the hardest to lose. The good news for me is that on most Web applications that I personally work, and definitely those that I work on in early 2009 will have much different numbers.

"Expedia is the class of the industry when it comes to search though, with a 26% share. This means that they receive traffic from just over one out of every four clicks (both paid and natural) to a major OTA from search, followed by rivals Travelocity and Orbitz. Priceline has moved into the fourth position by growing its share by nearly 5%, replacing Cheaptickets, which has fallen by almost the same percentage."

For the experiments run on 15 to 17 December 1997, the percentages of invalid links were, from best to worst, 1.6% for Lycos, 2.0% for Excite, 2.5% for AltaVista, 2.6% for Infoseek, 5.0% for Northern Light, and 5.3% for HotBot (pages that timed out were not included in these statistics). In comparison with the results of similar experiments performed in August 1997, the ranking of the engines in terms of the percentage of invalid links has changed significantly.

How does AskMe Pro work?
Asking A Question
Users first enter the question they wish to ask.
They will then select the category and specify how much they are willing to pay for an answer.
The question will be listed in the system and users also have option to upgrade the question priority by paying a deposit.
Answering A Question
Experts will browse the system to search for questions that are within their field of expertise.
Once an expert has identified a question to answer, the expert will post an answer and a bid amount.
The question will be locked for a predefined period of time set by the expert. A locked question is to ensure that only 1 expert is working on it at a time and other experts will not be able to post an answer to the question.
The user will be notified via email and can then proceed to making payment in order to unlock the answer provided by the expert.
Once the answer has been unlocked, the user can then rate the quality of the answer on the scale of 0-5 and the actual amount the expert will get for providing the answer is based on the rating the user gives.
Revenue Stream
The admin will first set the corresponding amount the experts will receive (as a percentage of the question price) for each rating from a scale of 0 to 5
Let's say the admin set the amount to be 50% of the question price for the rating of 5 and if the user gives the answer a rating of 5, the expert will get 50% ($2.50) and remaining amount goes to the admin.

While his support among white voters has slipped a few points since the last poll, he actually does better among whites against McCain than Clinton, losing the white vote 49-38, as opposed to 53-38 for Clinton. The 11-point deficit among whites might look discouraging, but it’s important to keep in mind that Kerry lost the white vote by 17 points in 2004. Obama is only 3 points below Kerry’s percentage of the white vote (41%), while McCain is 9 points behind Bush’s 58% (the rest are undecided).

comScore has released some intriguing data about Web usage internationally. They say that 14 of the top 25 US Web properties now attract more visitors from outside the US than from within. That includes the top 5 US properties - Yahoo! Sites, Time Warner Network, Microsoft, Google Sites, and eBay.
This is significant because it's a continuation of a long-term trend for online population to be more distributed around the world - particularly in China and the rest of Asia. Indeed comScore says that the US share of global online population has fallen from 65% to less than 25% in 10 years. We've been tracking these trends on R/WW all this year - in September we noted that as a percentage of world Internet penetration, Asia increased from 35.6% to 36.5%. This incremental increase is happening month by month, whereas the US figure is staying static. As Bob Ivins, managing director of comScore Europe, said:
"The fact that more than three-quarters of the traffic to Google, Yahoo!, and Microsoft is now coming from outside of the U.S. is indicative of what a truly global medium the Internet has become."
