MarshalSandler.com » Gotham Gal-Etiquette

by msandler
It is no secret Gotham Gal is one of my favorites and is a top content creator ! I once posted a comment on her husband’s web site that I still took notes on Crain StationaryWith A Quill pen ! http://www.crane.com/ My mother was very well educated and in our house Etiquette was king ! We had beautiful Crane Note paper and I still remember even though I was born in 1936-having to write hundreds of thank you note’s to people who attended my Bar Mitzvah ! I of course used a Parker 51 Fountain Pen that I got as a gift ! When I turned 21 I had my own Crain Stationary that was blind embossed with a simple line in the left hand column and the store where I bought it had to register the embossing ! The stationary got me a lot of response from politicians and other people I wrote , they must have thought I was important ! Presentation is a very important element in any communcation ! I was always jealous of my Friends who attented Catholic School since their penmanship was a work of art ! They had the Palmer method applied to their fingers with a ruler ! I didn’t meet the ruler method until I went Hebrew School ! I went to Detroit Country Day School for grades 1-12 and there was a lot of pressure applied to read and write ! Steve Ballmer also graduated from that School a long time after me and I know dam well it gave him an excellent base for a career ! Most of the people at that school were Harvard Bound since the headmaster F Alden Shaw was a Harvard graduate ! Me I went to the University of Miami and majored in what they call today Communication, with a minor in Statistics and it was the fifties so we all got 5th Degree Black Belts in Rum Drinking on a beautiful island 90 mies from Miami - Viva Ritmo Latino ! A good education will help you understand the Human Condition a long with a few wacks from a good Psychiatrist ! Both these elements temper your ego and make sure you are not a snob ! The internet is young and I have found a lot of people who created content that is presented with good taste aimed at all of the US The Unwashed ! I strongly resent the critics on the internet who have no backround liberal arts critisizing others ! Teche’s are the worst at this since usually they have technical degress and have never learned to communicate with anything other than a machine ! My people communicators are Seth Godin- Davie Winer- Chris Brogan-ShelIsrael-Bill Israel-Andrew Badera-Frank Eliason-Guy Kawasaki -Fred Wilson-Gotham Gal and many more ! Music Acoustics, Physics, UNSW

by Emaux
Physics and music have been closely related for thousands of years. The art and the science of music acoustics are presented on this site, in musician-friendly format, as is some of our research work in music science. Navigate around our site using the headings and the images above. In most cases, there is a simple non-technical introduction, followed by more or linked to more detailed work. The 'Basics' section gives a simple introduction to general topics in acoustics (decibels, waves and so on).

by oqdbpo
Boy In Static is Boston's Alexander Chen, a self-taught musician, singer/songwriter and graphic artist. Beginning his recording career with a three-song demo and a game of email tag with the Notwist's Alien Transistor label, Boy In Static's first album, Newborn, was released in 2005 after the two sides finally met at a Boston area concert. An amply proficient musician, Chen is able to play numerous instruments as well as arrange the live recordings he produces with a tight-knit group of musical collaborators. With a sound that ranges from the wall-of-sound aesthetic of Creation's heyday to the electronic pop of Morr Music, Boy In Static's music finds a comfortable balance between processed sounds and timeless songwriting.

How much video? Part 1 – The 2007 boom - Editors Weblog- Analysis

by mozkart
Video, video, video. In 2007, the ‘V’ word was the new craze for newspapers internationally. And this is bound to continue in 2008. But just how much video should newspapers seek? Is it an optional plus, should all reporters be assigned to capture video, or should a newsroom even have its in-house studio? In Part 1, we take a look at several examples of how newspapers have included video.   How much video? Part 1 – The 2007 boom How much video? Part 2 – Figaro, from Handycam to in-house studio How much video? Part 3 – Nouvel Obs: TV-like shows, with an edge – a year in retrospect First, for those not convinced by the use of video to enhance word-based storytelling, take a look at this engaging piece by Gene Weingarten, about a world-class musician who plays the violin in the subway and nobody notices. The article was published in the Washington Post’s Sunday magazine in April, as well as online with video.

Advanced Vinyl Handling, DJ Basics

by lecyborg
"What is DJ-ing anyway ?" I'll start by saying it is not just chaining tracks together into one long continuous piece of music. How you mix your records, which records you mix and even the order in which you mix them can make or break an atmosphere. A DJ is a musician who is using music to make music. The turntables, mixer and records make up one of the most versatile and complex instruments imaginable. Still, this does not do credit to the most important thing about DJ-ing. The ultimate goal for a DJ is to create something magical with the audience, to make time stop, to create a natural high, or more down to earth, at least give the crowd a great time.
