The LINGUIST List is dedicated to providing information on language and language analysis, and to providing the discipline of linguistics with the infrastructure necessary to function in the digital world. LINGUIST maintains a web-site with over 2000 pages and runs a mailing list with over 25,000 subscribers worldwide. LINGUIST also hosts searchable archives of over 100 other linguistic mailing lists and runs research projects which develop tools for the field, e.g., a peer-reviewed database of language and language-family information, and recommendations of best practice for digitizing endangered languages data.
LINGUIST is a free resource, run by linguistics professors and graduate students, and supported entirely by your donations.

Getting started with OpenNLP (Natural Language Processing)

I found a great set of tools for natural language processing. The Java package includes a sentence detector, a tokenizer, a parts-of-speech (POS) tagger, and a treebank parser. It took me a little while to figure out where to start so I thought I'd post my findings here. I'm no linguist and I don't have previous experience with NLP, but hopefully this will help some one get setup with OpenNLP.

Welcome to the ESLDesk, a site for ESL students who want to learn English online. I am not an ESL teacher or a professional linguist. In fact, English is my second language and I am still learning it. I started this page a long time ago (in 1997) as an ESL bookmark page, and it's kind of grown from there.
On this website you will find vocabulary lists, grammar help, ESL quizzes, spelling tests, reading help tools, and many other resources useful in learning English as a second Language. I hope you find ESL Desk to be interesting and informative and I look forward to seeing you here quite often :)
