MarshalSandler.com » Gotham Gal-Etiquette

by msandler
It is no secret Gotham Gal is one of my favorites and is a top content creator ! I once posted a comment on her husband’s web site that I still took notes on Crain StationaryWith A Quill pen ! http://www.crane.com/ My mother was very well educated and in our house Etiquette was king ! We had beautiful Crane Note paper and I still remember even though I was born in 1936-having to write hundreds of thank you note’s to people who attended my Bar Mitzvah ! I of course used a Parker 51 Fountain Pen that I got as a gift ! When I turned 21 I had my own Crain Stationary that was blind embossed with a simple line in the left hand column and the store where I bought it had to register the embossing ! The stationary got me a lot of response from politicians and other people I wrote , they must have thought I was important ! Presentation is a very important element in any communcation ! I was always jealous of my Friends who attented Catholic School since their penmanship was a work of art ! They had the Palmer method applied to their fingers with a ruler ! I didn’t meet the ruler method until I went Hebrew School ! I went to Detroit Country Day School for grades 1-12 and there was a lot of pressure applied to read and write ! Steve Ballmer also graduated from that School a long time after me and I know dam well it gave him an excellent base for a career ! Most of the people at that school were Harvard Bound since the headmaster F Alden Shaw was a Harvard graduate ! Me I went to the University of Miami and majored in what they call today Communication, with a minor in Statistics and it was the fifties so we all got 5th Degree Black Belts in Rum Drinking on a beautiful island 90 mies from Miami - Viva Ritmo Latino ! A good education will help you understand the Human Condition a long with a few wacks from a good Psychiatrist ! Both these elements temper your ego and make sure you are not a snob ! The internet is young and I have found a lot of people who created content that is presented with good taste aimed at all of the US The Unwashed ! I strongly resent the critics on the internet who have no backround liberal arts critisizing others ! Teche’s are the worst at this since usually they have technical degress and have never learned to communicate with anything other than a machine ! My people communicators are Seth Godin- Davie Winer- Chris Brogan-ShelIsrael-Bill Israel-Andrew Badera-Frank Eliason-Guy Kawasaki -Fred Wilson-Gotham Gal and many more ! surprise packages, benevolent dictatorships

by karlcow

It’s like if I was to concede that a benevolent dictatorship is a far more effective model for a political system than a liberal democracy. The problems you hit in that context is when the dictatorship slides from benevolence (or effectiveness), or you need a new dictator in a hurry.

The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder | Rights and Liberties | AlterNet

by soul1383
By Vincent Bugliosi, Vanguard Press. Posted May 24, 2008. Why do so many in the liberal media simply move on to another topic after stating that Bush took the nation to war based on a lie?

DotNetNuke update

by nhoizey
DotNetNuke® is an open source web application framework ideal for creating, deploying and managing interactive web, intranet and extranet sites. Based on its liberal open source licensing model, DotNetNuke® has become the Microsoft industry standard framework for constructing enterprise web applications. The mass appeal of the open source model is largely based on the fact that it reduces the total cost of ownership and increases flexibility, factors which are crucial to the success of any organization.

New on the Web: Politics as Usual - New York Times

by sbrothier & 1 other
THE Netroots.” “People Power.” “Crashing the Gate.” The lingo of liberal Web bloggers bespeaks contempt for the political establishment. The same disdain is apparent among many bloggers on the right, who argued passionately for a change in the slate of House Republican leaders — and who wallowed in woe-is-the-party pity when the establishment ignored them.

The Libertarian Vote

by jasontromm
Not all Americans can be classified as liberal or conservative. In particular, polls find that some 10 to 20 percent of voting-age Americans are libertarian, tending to agree with conservatives on economic issues and with liberals on personal freedom. The Gallup Governance Survey consistently finds about 20 percent of respondents giving libertarian answers to a two-question screen.

Stunnel.org

by holyver & 1 other (via)
Stunnel is a program that allows you to encrypt arbitrary TCP connections inside SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) available on both Unix and Windows. Stunnel can allow you to secure non-SSL aware daemons and protocols (like POP, IMAP, LDAP, etc) by having Stunnel provide the encryption, requiring no changes to the daemon's code. The Stunnel source code is not a complete product -- you still require a functioning SSL library such as OpenSSL or SSLeay in order to compile stunnel. This means that stunnel can support whatever (and only) that which your SSL library can, without making any changes in the Stunnel code. The Stunnel source code is available under the GNU General Public License, meaning it is free to use in both commercial and non commercial applications as you see fit, as long as you provide source code (and any modifications) with the software. Your compiled Stunnel binary is 'restricted' by whatever license your chosen SSL library is under, however both OpenSSL and SSLeay are open source and similarly liberal in their licensing.

Speak Out or Give In?

by jasontromm
The Church and the Culture Wars There they go again. The liberal media, it seems, likes nothing better than to play up what they see (or create) as divisions in the evangelical ranks. This Sunday’s New York Times featured a front-page story about Gregory Boyd, an evangelical pastor in Minnesota who is highly critical of the religious right and refuses to talk about abortion or other cultural war issues from his pulpit.

New Tactic in Abortion-Foe Fight: Evicting Clinics

by jasontromm
If you can't beat 'em, buy 'em. That's the tactic that an anti-abortion group in Wichita, Kan., took when it boasted about its purchase of a former abortion facility building and subsequent plans to convert it into a memorial for aborted fetuses. Operation Rescue bought the former site of Central Women's Services weeks after the abortion clinic sold its equipment and closed the doors -- a tactic used before by similar groups that may increase. ()() Isn't this the same tactic used by environmental wackos? If you can't beat 'em, evict 'em. Why is it OK for liberal groups to use this tactic, but not conservative groups?
