keybr.com - take typing speed test and practice typing online

by oseres & 3 others
Have you ever wished that you had a way to practice typing so that you could become a more efficient and capable keyboard jockey? Typing at the “speed of thought,” perhaps? Enter Keybr.com — the flash–based typing instructor you’ve been waiting for! Keybr.com is very straightforward. You can choose from three basic lessons that start with a certain number of keys on the keyboard, and then, as you progress through the lessons, more keys are introduced to the mix to make things a little tougher. As an added bonus, our software keeps track of all your mistakes and your words–per–minute (wpm) — and even creates graphs of your day–by–day performance. But, things get even better! Once you have determined that the lessons you have completed have reached their maximum result, get ready to play with custom mode, where you can edit and personalize the text that you wish to practice! Very bare–bones, but oh, so functional. Finally, to up the entertainment level of your typing lessons, you can import content from a web site or blog into Keybr.com to type it out. But why even bother to learn touch typing? The answer is simple — it is healthier for you, faster and more accurate. Blogging, writing long documents and e–mails, instant messaging with your friends, and even coding sophisticated computer programs will become much easier and more enjoyable once you eliminate distraction of hunt–and–peck typing. If you are curious about how touch typing appears to onlookers, please watch a couple of short YouTube videos demonstrating really high typing speed:

html5.js > html5-now - Dean Edwards

by tehu 2 comments

A JavaScript library to support HTML5 in non-compliant browsers

pas encore sorti

Add. Bruce Lawson : Dean was showing his new JavaScript library that plugs the holes in browsers’ HTML 5 implementations. If a browser does do something natively, ther library does nothing; otherwise it fills that gap—so now you can have Web Forms with all browsers, canvas in IE. As a bonus, it’s all keyboard accessible, everything looks like native UI controls and it even inherits the native Windows themes. I’m looking forward to helping beta test this baby.

TableGear is... ...100% XHTML compliant. ...designed for PHP and MySQL, but can still be used on other systems. ...built on the MooTools Javascript framework. ...degradable for browsers without Javascript, like mobile devices. ...quick, allowing you to be more productive. ...customizable, giving you total control over your tables and form elements. ...well documented, so you can learn how to use it quickly. The TableGear package has two parts. TableGear.php is concerned with fetching data, formatting it, and getting it into an XHTML table. Shut your Mac down, don’t get up... I bought an Apple Mac Mini to use as a media center. Apple ships OS X Leopard with Front Row, which is great, except I found an important feature lacking: you need a keyboard to shut your Apple down. Not what you want in a chique remote controlled home cinema setting. I made a Shut Down plug-in for Front Row. It appears there are a lot of people that don’t want to get up to switch off their Mac up after watching a movie!

CMF Format - ModdingWiki

by sylvainulg (via)
valuable information about the CMF format which i tried to reverse-engineer back in the "Recreative Game Maker" era, due to the lack of proper edition tool. My guess is that such tool did not exists except in the form of "take that MIdI file, and use this SBI (sound blaster instrument) for that midi instrument, etc. Perhaps they even simply had an OPL2 midi synthetizer so that they could plug a midi keyboard on it and be happy.
