Understanding dynamic business workflows part 1

by BlueVoodoo
Inversion of Control (IoC) and Web Services Business Process Execution Language (WS-BPEL) can be effective tools for implementing dynamic business workflows. In this article, learn business workflows' dynamic nature and proposes a two-layer workflow model that lets you use XML to build configurable and flexible solutions.

Giles Bowkett: Ruby Golf: ASCII Sierpinski Triangle

A classic fractal, via Brian Mitchell. I have no idea how it works. In a weird inversion of my usual pattern, I know the math but I can't figure out the code.

Protecting JavaBeans in JSF applications

by BlueVoodoo
Learn how to use Acegi to secure access to JavaBeans in JavaServer Faces (JSF) applications. You can configure secure beans in a variety of ways, including using Acegi-secured inversion-of-control (IOC) beans directly in your JSF tags.

Inversion of Control Containers and the Dependency Injection pattern

by roulian (via)
In the Java community there's been a rush of lightweight containers that help to assemble components from different projects into a cohesive application. Underlying these containers is a common pattern to how they perform the wiring, a concept they refer under the very generic name of "Inversion of Control". In this article I dig into how this pattern works, under the more specific name of "Dependency Injection", and contrast it with the Service Locator alternative. The choice between them is less important than the principle of separating configuration from use.

La BBC et l’accessibilité, un exemple à suivre Synerg´heBlog - Le blog de la Junior-Entreprise Synerg’heTiC

by julie (via)

by jpcaruana (via)
Start to build lightweight, robust J2EE applications using Spring technology, with this first installment in a three-part introduction to the Spring framework. Regular developerWorks contributor Naveen Balani launches his three-part Spring series with an introduction to the Spring framework, including Spring aspect-oriented programming (AOP) and the Inversion of Control (IOC) container.

In pursuit of code quality: Beware the tight couple!

by BlueVoodoo
You know tight coupling is bad news and you really want to avoid it in your designs -- but the question is how. Learn how to recognize a tightly coupled system and then disentangle it using the Dependency Inversion Principle.

Use Inversion of Control in method signatures

by BlueVoodoo
This article describes how to use the pattern on method signatures to decrease the coupling between components and improve performance. IoC isn't just for components.

aiPotu

by ainos
aiPotu is an art project created by the two norwegian artists Andreas Siqueland and Anders Kjellsvik. We have crossed the European continent (November 2004 - March 2005) and Scandinavia (April 2005 - November 2005) with a mobile home from the mid 70s and realized a series of site-specific art pieces along the way. Our car acts as our home, our office and our means of transportation. aiPotu comes from an inversion of utopia. Through a series of small sculptural interventions in the public space, we aim to make visual statements that can inspire to a new dialogue regarding art and its use in creating new forms of local awareness.

Introduction to Priority Inversion

by YukuanMark
When tasks share resources, as they often do, strange things can and will happen. Priority inversions can be particularly difficult to anticipate. Here's an introduction to priority inversions and a pair of techniques you can use to avoid them.
