technobabbler » Blog Archive » drive a webcam with python

by karlcow

I bought a USB webcam off of eBay quite some time ago, and I decided to connect it to my telescope with a little bit of hardware hackery. I'll have to see about posting a writeup on how I did that at a later time. Anyway, when I installed my camera software, I quickly found how horrible the program was. It gave a tiny preview of what the camera saw, and had no way of capturing images or video without waaaay too many clicks of the mouse. That's when I decided to write my own in Python.

White uPVC Conservatory - 14m² - Used, located in York

by cryogenius (via)
We are selling this conservatory as it is soon to be replaced by a new extension. It was installed 7 years old and cost around £7,000 when new. The Conservatory is in white UPVC, generally in good condition. Approximate size is 4.75m by 3m, with a ~1.6m high wall at one end and frosted windows, and a ~0.6m dwarf wall on the other two sides. The corner of the two glass sides is cut off at an angle.

CodeProject - Create your own simple Button for Google Toolbar and link to add it in Googlebar

by decembre
To base64 encode an image for your button, determine or create your image. Then use this page to encode your image. Copy the result into the image element of your XML document. If you have an RSS or Atom feed, insert the URL of your feed into the feed element. Save your document with an .xml extension (we used updated_button.xml). Copy the XML file to the root of your website directory. It's ready to go! Now, just add the below link to your site, where ever you choose and when people click it, they will get your button added onto their Google toolbar: http://toolbar.google.com/buttons/add?url=http://www.yourwebsite.com/yourbuttonxmlfile.xml Replace the url= with the fully qualified public url to your xml file. If someone clicks the link and doesn't already have the correct version of Google Toolbar installed, they will be prompted to install the correct toolbar.

The binary packages could be installed with the installer by using the version "stable 4.2.2" (or "stable latest"). In case you are upgrading your KDE installation, deselect the skip basic settings checkbox on the first installer page and press next until you are guided to the release settings page where you can choose the required version. ApacheMySQLPHP - Community Ubuntu Documentation

by aureliengiraud (via)
Some applications require php4 while others will work with php5. Be sure to install the version of php and the corresponding apache2 module for it. You cannot have both php4 and php5 modules running on the same instance of apache2 at the same time. Installing one may remove the other. If you have both php4 and php5 installed, be aware of which version of the apache2 php module you have. If libapache2-mod-php5 is already installed, the php4 package will install libapache-mod-php4 and not libapache2-mod-php4 package.

Icon Handler for RIF files in Windows So after we introduced the Quick Look plugin for viewing Painter files in the Finder in Mac OS, many folks asked why we can't do the same for Windows. So the development team here is always up for a challenge, and between projects they built a little utility that will display the preview of the image as the Icon for RIF files. Simply download the utility from here [4.1 mB file]. Install it and you should be ready to go. Once installed all of your Painter RIF files should now have an image preview with a small application icon badge.

Note: If the errors reproduce after (re-)granting the privileges, then the directory on disk may have been created after the directory object was created. In that case:

- drop the directory object in the database;

- ensure that the directory exists on the filesystem on the server where the Oracle database is installed, and that the Oracle user has access to it;

- re-create the directory object in the database;

- grant the read and write privileges on the directory object to the user(s) who connect to the database when starting the expdp / impdp job.
