In-Field Labels jQuery Plugin

by Tiagut
This is a simple plugin that turns properly formatted HTML forms into forms with in-field label support. Labels fade when the field is focussed and disappear when text entry begins. Clearing a field and leaving brings back the label.

Desperate Japanese head to 'suicide forest' - CNN.com

by karlcow

Taro, a 46-year-old man fired from his job at an iron manufacturing company, hoped to fade into the blackness. "My will to live disappeared," said Taro. "I'd lost my identity, so I didn't want to live on this earth. That's why I went there."

CrossSlide - A jQuery plugin to create pan and cross-fade animations

by eledo34 & 5 others
CrossSlide is a jQuery plugin that implements in Javascript some common slide-show animations, traditionally only available to the web developer via Adobe Flash™ or other proprietary plugins. CrossSlide builds upon jQuery's animation facility, so it is as portable across browsers as jQuery itself (a lot.)

The jQuery Slideshow Plugin is a very simple slideshow addon for jQuery with no frills and with the simple job of flicking between any number of images after a set delay. The delay can be set to whatever is required and when it is reached the image will fade into the next one.

InnerFade with jquery

by Spone & 11 others
InnerFade is a small plugin for the jQuery-JavaScript-Library. It's designed to fade you any element inside a container in and out. These elements could be anything you want, e.g. images, list-items, divs. Simply produce your own slideshow for your portfolio or advertisings. Create a newsticker or do an animation.

Galleriffic | A jQuery plugin for rendering fast-performing photo galleries

by camel (via)
Galleriffic was inspired by Mike Alsup's Cycle plugin, but with performance in mind for delivering a high volume of photos. This is my first experiment with jQuery, so I would love feedback on how to improve this plugin. Features * Smart Image Preloading after the page is loaded * Thumbnail Navigation (with pagination) * Bookmark-friendly URLs * Slideshow (with auto-updating url bookmarks) * Image fade transitions * Optional download link for the original image * Flexible configuration * Graceful degradation when javascript is not available * Now supports multiple galleries per page (View Multiple Gallery Demo)

Usability Post » Experience vs. Function — a Beautiful UI is Not Always the Best UI

by greut

A good UI should fade away, putting content in the front seat — it should be transparent. Sometimes there can be too much ‘UI’ — controls and buttons that are too strong and distracting win over content in their battle for attention.

by sbrothier
Quant à la recette, il faudra revenir. Je vous avais prévenu, c'est une saga à épisodes, l'ortie ! Ma quiche à l'ortie, au seigle et au tofu soyeux était joliement rustique, mais franchement fade. A améliorer ! Rien à voir avec mon velouté d'orties (la chance du débutant !) que je vous recommande. La prochaine fois, j'essayerai sans doute le rastegaï d'orties de Valérie. Ou alors la quiche d'orties, toute simple, de Boire et Manger.

Best Game Ever

by xibe (via)
Par les fameux Improv Everywhere. "We turned a little league baseball game in Hermosa Beach, California into a major league event." (...) "We collaborated with NBC Sports on this mission, and they took care of renting the jumbotron and hiring legendary sportscaster Jim Gray to call the game." (...) "For our final touch, we worked with NBC Sports to get the Goodyear blimp to fly over the game and film the action from above." Enorme et magnifique. J'attend avec impatience la pâle copie française (cf. la récente et fade "Freeze Party").

Social Advertising Network, SocialMedia » Blog Archive » widgets-are-still-hacks-and-will-fade-out-like-mashups

I remember building an apartment search engine with two friends of mine which was essentially a mashup of Google maps and data drawn from craigslist and move.com. Since I had to scrape a lot of the data to make it work, the xml streams could sometimes be unreliable and I wasted a lot of development time just standardizing room sizes and addresses.
