Understand Scala’s class syntax and semantics

by BlueVoodoo
In this second installment of The busy Java developer's guide to Scala series, learn a basic premise of language measurement: that the power of a language can be measured in direct relation to its ability to integrate new facilities -- in this case, support for complex numbers. Along the way you'll see some interesting tidbits related to class definitions and usage in Scala.

Spam and Virus filtering for e-mail with UNIX

by BlueVoodoo
Look beyond tools like SpamAssassin and Amavis to see how you can extend them and provide additional filtering facilities to lower the amount of spam hitting the e-mail boxes of your users. Most companies use spam and virus filtering services on their UNIX platforms, but there are some methods that you can use that help improve your filtering scores and might even eliminate spam reaching inboxes.

Trac

by roulian & 14 others
Trac is an enhanced wiki and issue tracking system for software development projects. Trac uses a minimalistic approach to web-based software project management. Our mission is to help developers write great software while staying out of the way. Trac should impose as little as possible on a team's established development process and policies. It provides an interface to Subversion, an integrated Wiki and convenient reporting facilities. Trac allows wiki markup in issue descriptions and commit messages, creating links and seamless references between bugs, tasks, changesets, files and wiki pages. A timeline shows all project events in order, making the acquisition of an overview of the project and tracking progress very easy.

This script checks to see if a domain has expired. It can be run in interactive and batch mode, and provides facilities to alarm if a domain is about to expire in advance.

StrutsTestCase for JUnit

by jpcaruana & 2 others (via)
StrutsTestCase for JUnit is an extension of the standard JUnit TestCase class that provides facilities for testing code based on the Struts framework. StrutsTestCase provides both a Mock Object approach and a Cactus approach to actually run the Struts ActionServlet, allowing you to test your Struts code with or without a running servlet engine. Because StrutsTestCase uses the ActionServlet controller to test your code, you can test not only the implementation of your Action objects, but also your mappings, form beans, and forwards declarations. And because StrutsTestCase already provides validation methods, it's quick and easy to write unit test cases. StrutsTestCase is compliant with the Java Servlet 2.2, 2.3, and 2.4 specifications, and supports Struts 1.2, and Cactus 1.6.1 and JUnit 4.0. Please note that StrutsTestCase is no longer backwards compatible with Struts 1.0. The last release compatible with Struts 1.0 is StrutsTestCase v2.0.
