Nice Web Type Likes: Graublau Sans with Lucida sanserif

by sbrothier (via)
If your web browser is up to snuff, you’ll see Graublau Sans Web for headings, subheads, and appropriate examples in this specimen page. If not, refer to CSS @font-face support. Please note: IE supports @font-face via fonts converted to .EOT, but because conversion is a hassle I have skipped it in this example. ↩

CodeProject: Designing And Implementing A Neural Network Library For Handwriting Detection, Image Analysis etc.- The BrainNet Library - Full Code, Simplified Theory, Full Illustration, And Examples. Free source code and programming help

by jpcaruana (via)
This article will explain the actual concepts of Backward Propagation Neural Networks - in such a way that even a person with zero knowledge in neural networks can understand the required theory and concepts very easily. The related project demonstrates the designing and implementation of a fully working 'BackProp' Neural Network library, i.e, the Brain Net library as I call it. You can find the theory, illustration and concepts here - along with the explanation of the neural network library project - in this article. Also, find the full source code of the library and related demo projects (a simple pattern detector, a hand writing detection pad, an xml based neural network processing language etc) in the associated zip file.

Styling buttons to look like links | Natalie Downe

by karlcow & 1 other

A common mistake that many developers make is to use a link to trigger an action on the server, for example deleting an item from a shopping basket or adding something to your favourites. Both of these examples are actions that modify state on the server and should therefore be performed using 'post'.

ouch :)

Google Geo Developers Blog: Announcing the Google Qualified JS Maps Developer program

by srcmax (via)

Last week at Google I/O we released the Google Maps API (JavaScript version) addition to the Developer Qualification program. Designed for professionals who currently develop or want to develop applications based on Google and Google-sponsored Open Source APIs, the Google Qualified Developer program will help promote developers to the Google community, provide credibility, and leverage the wisdom of the masses in rating and recognizing best in class developers. In this program, we assess developers in four areas, each of which provides a score towards an overall total required for qualification. Developers must maintain a minimum number of points to remain qualified within the program. Points are awarded for examples of development work, community participation, professional references, and scores on examinations.

An SVG Primer

by Yann_L & 2 others
This is neither an introductory text book, nor a reference manual. Instead, it is aimed so that any of these people : * an upper division undergraduate student with a few semesters under her belt of computing coursework; * a professional web programmer; * a graphic designer with a strong technical bent; or * a science teacher who wants to build graphical presentations might be able to pick it up and then do any or all of the following: * work through it over the course of a few days, developing a basic understanding; * be able, in a week or two, to make a decent graphical front-end to a web site that demands innovative and interactive graphics; * at any time during the next year or two of work with SVG, be able to pick up the book, look up a new topic, and with little effort, find an illustration of what they'd like to know about and with a minimum of reading, to be able to make sense of the examples provided.
