Maxwell's Silver Hammer: RDFa and HTML5's Microdata | Bb RealTech

by night.kame

Submitted by Philip Jägenstedt (not verified) on Sun, 08/23/2009 - 14:44.

Sounds like you want a DTD or XML Schema that you can edit to your satisfaction.

Et lui, on dirait qu'il est resté dans sa grotte pendant 10 ans et qu'il n'a jamais vu XHTML M12N. En même temps, c'est un peu le cas de tous les HTML 5 fanboyz.

W3C WD: HTML Dialects: Internet Media Types and SGML Document Types

by karlcow

The HTML 2.0 specification, RFC1866, defines an SGML application and an Internet media type. The specification notes that extensions are planned, but only the text/html; level=2 internet media type and the "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN" document type are defined. This document suggests the use of URIs as system identifiers for document type definitions, allowing decentralized evolution of the language. The use of marked sections as a transition technique and the continued use of the level mechanism for standardized points in the evolution path are discussed.

Adblock Plus and (a little) more: Managing locales - now the generic way

by karlcow

very generic script. The downside is of course that it can only have a subset of the functionality — namely verifying that the files are valid UTF-8, don’t have a BOM and that the syntax is correct. It also happens to recognize a larger part of the DTD syntax than the Adblock Plus script because it doesn’t need to extract the data out of the DTD files.

WWW-Talk Apr-Jun 1993: Standardizing new HTML features

by karlcow

Many browsers now go beyond the current DTD and it is only right that we update the DTD to reflect the best ideas. I hope to have a preliminary draft available within a week or two to fire off discussions. The aim is to evolve a consensus view of what extensions are appropriate and which preserve the overall simplicity of HTML.

CPAN v DTD (spoiler: CPAN loses)

by karlcow

by Eusebius & 2 others

NewsForge | Open source XML editors examined

by pvergain & 1 other
Despite the numerous benefits of XML, users and developers that work with it realize that XML's versatility is a mixed blessing. How does one design an effective editor for a data format that can be used to express virtually any kind of structured content? A visual editing idiom that is appropriate for developing a user interface with XUL content may not be appropriate for writing an essay with DocBook content. In many cases it becomes necessary to construct a specialized editing environment that provides a unique interface and produces valid XML code, such as Glade or OpenOffice.org. If one were to build a generic XML editor that could support a multitude of vastly disparate content types, how would it work? The structure of a given XML content type is usually specified in a Document Type Definition (DTD) or a Schema. An application can use this data to introduce specializations and interface refinements. Many XML editors employ document meta-data to provide context-sensitive assistance and automation mechanisms.

XML Résumé Library:: Welcome

by pvergain & 8 others
The XML Résumé Library is an XML and XSL based system for marking up, adding metadata to, and formatting résumés and curricula vitae. It consists of these components: * An XML Document Type Definition (DTD) for describing résumés. * Three XSL stylesheets to transform an XML résumé into: o Web-ready HTML, o Print-ready PDF, or o Plain, unformatted text o RTF transforms (requires third-party software) * A targeting filter that allows you to focus your résumés to a particular employer without manually editing your source resume file. Applications * Résumé production: produce web and print résumés from a single source file. * B2B (business-to-business): transfer résumés between human resources and other company divisions, or between recruiters and employers. * Search and retrieval: increase precision in locating employees using résumé metadata.
