WordPress › Enhanced Categories « WordPress Plugins

by mozkart (via)
This plugin allows you to get better control on how your categories are listed. It provides a widget which lets you get more options than the default WordPress category widget (show RSS, hide empty categories, etc.). Furthermore, it allows to hide the children categories and use clickable buttons to expand them. The plugin requires jQuery to be included in your theme. It degrades nicely when javascript is not available to the usual WordPress category list.

CSS Tools: Reset CSS

by mozkart & 1 other (via)
The goal of a reset stylesheet is to reduce browser inconsistencies in things like default line heights, margins and font sizes of headings, and so on. The general reasoning behind this was discussed in a May 2007 post, if you're interested. Reset styles quite often appear in CSS frameworks, and the original "meyerweb reset" found its way into Blueprint, among others. The reset styles given here are intentionally very generic. There isn't any default color or background set for the body element, for example. I don't particularly recommend that you just use this in its unaltered state in your own projects. It should be tweaked, edited, extended, and otherwise tuned to match your specific reset baseline. Fill in your preferred colors for the page, links, and so on. In other words, this is a starting point, not a self-contained black box of no-touchiness.

Adding meaning to your HTTP error pages! - Opera Developer Community

by karlcow

When searching for something on the web we’ve all had the experience of clicking on a link in a search engine’s results page only to find that the page no longer exists. If there’s no information on that page other than a default error message, the most likely course of action on the user’s part is to press the back button and try the next search result.

As site authors we can make our error pages more meaningful to our users, so that an error becomes an opportunity to bring the user back into a site and show them content that’s relevant to what they’re looking for. In this article I’ll show you how to do just that.

NetBeans for PHP : weblog

by Xavier Lacot
The work for supporting for Symfony PHP Framework in NetBeans 6.8 is finished. This should make Netbeans the default editor for PHP developers, far before Eclipse. As for me, I'll stick to Textmate :)

Our Causes: Internet Health Check

by srcmax

You're not alone. According to a 2009 Forrester Research study, 60 percent of companies are using IE6 as their default browser at work, as their IT departments are reluctant to upgrade and support a current browser. If you're in this situation, we've put together a letter you can pass on to your IT department. Just copy and paste it into an e-mail and customize it as you see fit. Get your colleagues to send a letter too.

Single Post Template Plugin — Nathan Rice

by mozkart
The Single Post Template plugin adds the ability for your theme to include “Post Templates” in much the same way you can add “Page Templates”, allowing you to choose (via a simple dropdown) which post template you want to use, on a per-post basis. All you need to do, after installing and activating the plugin, is create one or more “Post Templates” in your theme’s folder, and when creating or editing a post, choose the post template that you would like to use. If no post template is selected, the default template will be used.

Baseline - a designer framework by ProjetUrbain.com

by Spone & 7 others
Built with typographic standards in mind, Baseline makes it easy to develop a website with a pleasing grid and good typography. Baseline starts with several files to reset the browser’s default behavior, build a basic typographic layout — including style for HTML forms and new HTML 5 elements — and build a simple grid system. Baseline was born to be a quick way to prototype a website and grew up to become a full typographic framework for the web using “real” baseline grid as it’s foundation.

Mobile phone users and email | 世論 What Japan Thinks

by karlcow

One of the biggest differences in standard mobile phone usage between Japan and the West is that almost every phone here supports full internet email by default, with for at least the last three or four years support for HTML graphic email, and even now simple Flash authoring, and older handsets even have a fall-back mode to allow them to view graphic mail online. On the other hand, the West is still wedded to SMS. With that in mind, let’s have a look at a recent survey from goo Research and reported on by japan.internet.com into computer usage of mobile phone users.

by tadeufilippini
#!/bin/sh -e # # rc.local # # This script is executed at the end of each multiuser runlevel. # Make sure that the script will "exit 0" on success or any other # value on error. # # In order to enable or disable this script just change the execution # bits. # # By default this script does nothing. # ifconfig eth0 up exit 0 p.s. saudações do ipiranga tadeu filippini

Curiosity is bliss: XMLHttpRequest - Security Bypass

by decembre
While trying to help Dare make his MovieFinder page run in Firefox, I ran into an issue that can make developing AJAX applications a pain: when testing your pages, you need to host them in the same domain as your services. I explain the details of the problem and how the "XMLHttpRequest - Bypass Security" Greasemonkey user script solves it. Note: this script is meant for development only, as it gives the page access to a potentially dangerous API. The default @include is "file:///*", but feel free to restrict it even further to the path for the pages you're trying to tweak. You should never have to @include an http ur

WP Greet Box WordPress Plugin | OMNINOGGIN

by mozkart (via)
This plugin lets you show a different greeting message to your new visitors depending on their referrer url. For example, when a Digg user clicks through from Digg, they will see a message reminding them to digg your post if they like it. Another example, when a visitor clicks through from Twitter, they will see a message suggesting them to twit the post and follow you on Twitter. You can also set a default greeting message for new visitors (not matching any referrer URLs) suggesting them to subscribe to your RSS feed. Professional bloggers know that having these targeted suggestions on their blog increases their blog exposure and loyal readership. Best of all, this plugin is compatible with various WordPress cache plugins so you do not have to sacrifice speed.  Even Smashing Magazine is using this plugin.  Take it from the pros and download it!
