labs.moto.com » Blog Archive » DIY Android Home Energy Monitor

by Spone
Lately we’ve been tinkering with deploying Android beyond the phone (using Google’s open-source Android to connect devices to each other and the web), so we thought we’d see if we could leverage the efficiency of Android on a BeagleBoard, the accessibility of wireless webcams, and the ease of a Flickr feed to a custom Google Gadget to track the ups and downs of our metered utilities. Why webcams? While there may be a few compelling (low-cost, low-impact) products out there to monitor your electric meter, there are no comparable products for reading gas or water meters. So until the really smart grid arrives, here’s a way to chart your whole utility spend on your own Google homepage.

With such a large amount of content, searchability was essential. For this we built a custom technology stack based on Solr, Lucene and Haystack. Then, to keep all the previous links pointing in the right direction, we created a customizable scheme of Django regular expressions and Apache mod_rewrites.

How to Hide Certain Custom Fields From the Edit Post Page | Apartment One Six

by mozkart
The WordPress developers, fortunately, thought of this.  In fact, they store all kinds of stuff that they don’t want the user to see in custom fields – things like the last time the post was edited, who is currently editing it, and a few others.  A quick look at the database, reveals this:Notice a trend?  The mysterious custom field key values are prepended with an underscore.  Give it a try – enter a new custom field from the edit-post page, and enter a name that starts with an underscore – like _thumbnail, or _meta_keywords.  Hit “Add Custom Field”, and it disappears – but if you check the database, its right where it should be. Now get out there and start hiding things from your users!

WordPress › More Fields « WordPress Plugins

by mozkart & 1 other (via)
More Fields is a WordPress plugin that adds boxes to the Write/Edit page. These boxes contains input fields, so that additional (more) fields can be added to a post. For example, if you write about books, you can add a box where you can enter title and author, etc. The boxes can be placed either to the right or to the left on the Write/Edit page. In addition, the new version of More Fields enables you to define post types, which are custom Write/Edit pages that contains a pre-defined set of boxes. For example, you write about books and you write about your holidays, then you can define a post type 'Book' and a post type 'Holiday' each containing the input boxes relevant to each type of text. You can also set pre-defined categories, tags and templates for each post type.

Announcing Managing News: A Pluggable News Data Aggregator | Development Seed

by karlcow

Managing News is both a product and a platform. Out of the box it can help your communications team manage a brand reputation, allow geographically dispersed clusters of NGOs stay on the same page, or act as a simple thematic news planet to share feeds with the world. It can also serve as a platform to build highly custom data aggregators that suck in everything from CSV to RDF to custom XML formats and that need unique workflows and visualizations. Managing News is built on Drupal and uses Features, which makes it highly extensible.

Moteur Google CSE (Recherche Personnalisée Google) - Exemple Pour Créer un moteur de recherche limité à 300 sites web...(Encore Un BiblioBlog) ....en moins de 3 minutes

by decembre
