Marshall Alexander - Paper Engineer

by sbrothier & 4 others
I am a Dutch paper engineer, based in Arnhem, and my work mainly focuses on the creation of papertoys. I either create completely new characters from scratch or I transform existing characters into papermodels. My speciality is one-piece papertoys, models that consist of a single flat piece of paper, which by intricate folding is transformed into a 3-dimensional model. I also create more complex templates consisting of several parts that are glued together to construct the final model. I've have done commissioned work for the toy industry, for promotional purposes and for books and magazines. Growing up in the seventies and eighties, my personal work is heavily inspired by retro design, videogames, movies, bright plastic toys and TV cartoons. Most of this work can be downloaded for free from my site. So get your knives and glue out, download some of the models and start building. Enjoy!

BIO-CREATION » Blog Archive » Les Phryganes de luxe d’Hubert Duprat

by fotopol

Using Wikipedia to Extend Digital Collections

by decembre
Web 2.0 technologies offer librarians a great opportunity to enhance the authority of resources that students use on a daily basis, and to push their knowledge and expertise beyond the traditional boundaries of the library. We now consider Wikipedia an essential tool for getting our digital collections out to our users at the point of their information need. We view this as a very low cost way to enhance access to our collections, as well as an effective way to participate in the creation of resources that are used by millions around the world. We will continue to explore how we can take advantage of the opportunities that Web 2.0 technologies offer us when marketing our digital and physical collections.

by cascamorto & 2 others
This web site provides you with an opportunity to discover the world of logos, brands and trademarks. However, besides being just a resource for "logotype fans", the site is of a specific importance for designers and design studios that are involved in the logotype creation themselves. Post the logo of your own design in this website and by doing so make others to acknowledge and to respect your work and particularly to preserve your original logo design when trying to apply it later.

a blog and resource on the future of work and how new tools are addressing age-old challenges of organization, collaboration, and creation. But it is also an idea: that there remains a gap between the toolset that exists and what’s needed.

Mobile Web Application Best Practices

by karlcow

Best Practices for the development and delivery of Web applications on mobile devices. The recommendations expand upon statements made in the Mobile Web Best Practices 1.0 (BP1), especially those that relate to the exploitation of device capabilities and awareness of the delivery context. Furthermore, since BP1 was written, networks and devices have continued to evolve, with the result that a number of Best Practices that were omitted from BP1 can now be included.

The recommendation is primarily directed at creators, maintainers and operators of Web applications. Readers of this document are expected to be familiar with the creation of Web sites, and to have a general familiarity with the technologies involved, such as Web servers, HTTP, and Web application technologies. Readers are not expected to have a background in mobile technologies or previous experience with BP1.
