Picok

by Xavier Lacot & 1 other
Picok stands for Personal Information Cockpit. It's an open source software package, aimed at enableing users to build their personal information dashboards. The users content is loaded into small draggable boxes, so called portlets, and layed out in a tabbed column-based interface. There are a quite few standard portlets shipped with Picok, but since it is an open system, maintainers of picok installations can easily create portlets of their own. Picok is written in PHP 5, uses the Yahoo User Interface Library and Zend Framework Components and supports MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM Lotus Notes and is ready to be integrated into your corporate intranet, website or community platform as well.

by karlcow & 2 others

By using this icon on my website I am stating...

1. That I am opposed to the use of corporate advertising on blogs.

2. That I feel the use of corporate advertising on blogs devalues the medium.

3. That I do not accept money in return for advertising space on my blog.

Floating Logos

by oqdbpo
Inspired by the proliferation of very tall signs in the American Mid-West, Floating Logos seeks to draw attention to this often overlooked form of advertising. Perched atop very tall poles or stanchions, these corporate beacons emit their message by looming over us in their glowing, plastic perfection. Elimination of the support structure in the photographs allows the signs to literally float above the earth. In some cases the ground is purposefully left out of the image to further emphasize the disconnect between the corporate symbols and terra firma.

by parmentierf
An extensive evaluation of the Fedora Commons 3.0 and DSpace 1.5 digital document repository systems has been conducted. The evaluation aimed at selecting an open source software package that best satisfies the FAO Open Archive and FAO organizational requirements and the requirements for the storage, dissemination and preservation of documents and bibliographic metadata. Both repository systems were evaluated against thirty-two criteria chosen from nine core categories of requirements: community, security, functionality, integration, modularity, metadata, statistics and reports, preservation, and outputs.
