DesignNotes by Michael Surtees » Blog Archive » Video on Agile Design from my Creative Mornings talk is up
’m really happy to mention that my Agile Design talk at Creative Mornings can now be seen on Vimeo at http://www.vimeo.com/4831538. The entire video is about half an hour with the Q & A—I guess I went over my ten minute slot, ha. I just want to thank Tina and the entire Creative Mornings team for giving me the opportunity to talk, setting up the event and producing a great video that ties my talk together. I also wanted to thank James A. Reeves who was hanging out in Finland and was the virtual skype guest, and Core Industries for sponsoring the talk.
Unboxing Web-Oriented Architecture: The 6 Aspects Of An Emergent Architectural Style
Transfer Methods. This is at the core of REST and ROA and is the foundation of Web-Oriented Architecture. You can read Roy Fielding's chapter on REST (he conceived of the approach originally) or you can just follow the simple guidelines here. At other times, protocols like BitTorrent can be used if the requirements warrant it, but these are exceptional scenarios that I will cover at some point in the future.
Ne pas citer XMPP dans les "Transfer Methods" quelque jours après l'annonce de Google Wave, et surtout le mettre dans le schéma au niveau des Microformats fait perdre toute crédibilité à l'article.

The Pyjama Project is a framework for computing. At its core is an integrated editor and interactive console for writing and exploring computer science through dynamic languages. It is designed to be a simple, yet powerful, integrated development environment (IDE) for students, teachers, researchers, and regular humans, too. It runs on most any operating system, including Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows, and is built using .NET and Mono. All sources for the Pyjama Project are open and free---freely available and you are free to use them in various ways. All source code conforms to OSI approved licenses.

Test automation with OperaWatir - By Opera Core Concerns
To make sure new versions of our browser core are of sufficient quality before making their way into any of our products, we run more than 100,000 automated tests on a number of different reference configurations every time we have a new build.

Vega - Opera's vector graphics library - By Opera Core Concerns
Vega was created shortly after we started working on SVG support. When we added SVG support in Opera we needed a vector graphics library. We looked into what what available to use and met our requirements (fast, low memory usage and works on platforms ranging from phones to TVs and desktop computers). We did not find and good match for our needs, so we decided to write our own.
Shortly after we created Vega we added <canvas> support, which also uses Vega.
The most recent addition to Vega is the ability to use a hardware accelerated back-end. The back-ends we are using at the moment are OpenGL and Direct3D.
Opera web standards curriculum: JavaScript in town! - By Opera's Developer Relations Team
JavaScript is such a huge subject area that I decided to deal with it in small chunks, therefore I decided to include just basic core skills in the core web standards curriculum.
