Hello » About

by Spone & 1 other
Howdy folks! Hello is a simple app that helps people make friends and have more fun at conferences. What does it do? The idea is fairly simple: When you arrive at the conference, simply say which seat you're sitting in, via Twitter. You can then browse the rest of the audience and see else is sitting around you, what their interest are, and whether you have anything in common. You can also search the audience for specific names or skillset (php, designer, marketer, etc).

by karlcow & 1 other

This list of design manifestos was buried in a previous post but deserves its own permalink. It is largely drawn from Mario Piazza’s presentation at the Più Design Può conference in Florence, though I’ve edited and added to it. I’ve also incorporated links where I was able to find them.

Open Sourcing The Big Board | Hieroglyphics

by karlcow

The Big Board is a real-time collaborative environment for mapping. Users open “conference rooms” on a shared map, and join conversations in these conference rooms, much like in a regular teleconferencing application. However, instead of sharing faces and powerpoints and speech over the wire, users draw on and add content to a shared map or very large image.

100 Years of Design Manifestos -- Social Design Notes

by Spone & 1 other
Since the days of radical printer-pamphleteers, design and designers have a long history of fighting for what’s right and working to transform society. The rise of the literary form of the manifesto also parallels the rise of modernity and the spread of letterpress printing. This list of design manifestos was buried in a previous post but deserves its own permalink. It is largely drawn from Mario Piazza’s presentation at the Più Design Può conference in Florence, though I’ve edited and added to it. I’ve also incorporated links where I was able to find them.

I’m not seeing any special markup in the Facebook profile page, but could this be Google’s “Rich Snippets” feature in action, as announced at this year’s Searchology conference?

It’s day two at the Input conference in Warsaw and I wanted to share the best project I’ve seen so far. Gaza/Sderot - Life in Spite of Everything is a series of 80 films shot over 40 days — one per day in Gaza and one per day in the town of nearby Sderot. Each is a day-in-the-life style video that follows one of 14 people (seven in each town).
