Droste Effect Tutorial : un album sur Flickr

by fotopol (via)
This is an advanced tutorial. You need to be very comfortable with Photoshop and/or GIMP to be able to follow this tutorial. If you don't already know how to create layer masks or crop an image, learn how to do those things first before you try to follow this tutorial because this tutorial does not teach you how to do those things, but requires that you be able to do them.

Opera web standards curriculum: JavaScript in town! - By Opera's Developer Relations Team

by xibe & 1 other

The JavaScript articles you will read within do not come close to being a complete treatment of the topic; rather, they are intended to provide enough information to give readers a gentle ride towards getting comfortable enough with JavaScript to work with it in confidence, write simple scripts, debug code, and build a stable base from which to work towards more complicated techniques and specialisations.

Pathfinder Development » Bullseye Diagram

by greut

Once the tasks are prioritized and in the bullseye, you can organize, arrange and add structure. You can start to see relationships, which may indicate a different priority. You can start to see categories, which may affect iteration planning. You can begin to add structure. The outcome of this exercise is an easily understood diagram showing the project’s priorities. For teams that aren’t comfortable assigning a number to a task, this is a good alternative to try.

YouTube - boyinstatic's Channel

by oqdbpo
Boy In Static is Boston's Alexander Chen, a self-taught musician, singer/songwriter and graphic artist. Beginning his recording career with a three-song demo and a game of email tag with the Notwist's Alien Transistor label, Boy In Static's first album, Newborn, was released in 2005 after the two sides finally met at a Boston area concert. An amply proficient musician, Chen is able to play numerous instruments as well as arrange the live recordings he produces with a tight-knit group of musical collaborators. With a sound that ranges from the wall-of-sound aesthetic of Creation's heyday to the electronic pop of Morr Music, Boy In Static's music finds a comfortable balance between processed sounds and timeless songwriting.

Learning the World » @media 2007 Wrap-Up

by karlcow
Don’t believe the hype. Most web applications still don’t innovate, they just copy desktop behavior. And who is really comfortable with the restrictions of desktop software anyway? If it’s only a matter of response rates, learn from Yahoo! how to minimize the amount of data being sent on server requests. If I can update a whole page in 1-2 seconds using smart caching and other techniques, there’s no need for an AJAX request except for immediate form feedback helping users to avoid errors.

Garrett Dimon / Front-End Architecture: Browsers

by Nissone (via)
Argumentaire pour ne pas styler des formulaires -- "Don’t focus on breaking one of the few remaining consistent interface conventions only because you think it looks better. The average person is comfortable using their browser and that browser’s style of form fields. By changing the appearance of those form fields, not only are you wasting time on a frivolous aspect of design, but you’re adding additional code and potentional usability problems."

Daniel Nouri's Blog : /devel/patterns-and-simplicity.html

by karlcow
Architecture has changed in this century from being a trade serving humanity with comfortable and useful structures, to an art that serves primarily as a vehicle for self-expression for the architect. In the current architectural paradigm, the emotional and physical comfort of the user are of only minor importance.
