Fraser Speirs – On the Flickr support in iPhoto ‘09

by sbrothier (via)
As you may know, Apple added Flickr uploading to iPhoto ‘09. As you may guess, I was a little perturbed at this since I pay my mortgage by selling, er, a Flickr upload plugin for iPhoto. I acquired my copy of iLife ‘09 yesterday and decided to dive deep on how Apple have implemented Flickr integration in iPhoto ‘09. Here are the results of my investigation. Be aware as you read that this is the result of a morning’s click-around investigation and not months of serious use. I will do my best to give an honest assessment of what is in iPhoto ‘09, and you’ve already read my full disclosure in the previous paragraph.

Dynamically Created Radio Buttons - Another IE Gotcha

by astrochoupe
As soon as I think I have it all worked out I bump into another oddity between Firefox and IE and handling the DOM. Specifically adding a radio button (or set of them) dynamically. My initial javascript went something like this: # var rdo = document.createElement('input'); # rdo.type = 'radio'; # rdo.id = 'someUniqueID'; # rdo.name = 'myRadio'; # rdo.value = 1; # # myDocumentsBody.appendChild(rdo); This almost worked perfectly. The input was added, it was a radio button, but it was totally unselectable. I could select it via javascript but the normal "click" event didn't cause the radio button to assume the "selected" state in IE? What gives?

Java Profiling « www.jillesvangurp.com

I hope somebody in the TPTP project reads this: your stuff is unusable. If there’s a magic combination of settings that makes this shit work as it should: I missed it, your documentation was useless, the most useful suggestion I found was to not use TPTP. No I don’t want to fiddle with cryptic vm commandline parameters, manually compiling C shit, fiddle with well hidden settings pages, etc. All I wanted was right click, profile.

So am I now a Netbeans user? No way! I can’t stand how tedious it is for coding. Run profiler in Netbeans, go ah, alt tab to eclipse and fix it. Works for me.

Restaurants, Hotels, Travel and Vacations - Ruba.com

by Regis (via)
Travel guides are a dime a dozen on the web. But for the most part, they’re not very conducive to really exploring - it’s not much fun to click through various guides to get a feel for where you’d like to visit, because each guide is loaded with a wall of text. Ruba, a new travel site that launches today, is looking to offer users a way to visually browse through cities and their attractions around the world, offering photo-rich guides and an emphasis on making it easy to quickly discover new locations.
