Tran’s works draw us in with saturated colors and blooming shapes only to reveal a sort of darkness. Suggested by the black, wrought iron fences that coil about the trunks of her trees, her art feels akin to that moment in the story when the children realize they have become lost in a wood. The trees embody the best of both worlds – they remain grounded via their roots and the artist’s skill, plus they stretch their branches to discover a rather hallucinatory bliss. Despite of many dangers, air bombings and rocket attacks, those people never stop working, loving, and dreaming. Life despite of everything.
On this website, you can find during two months short videos (2 minutes each) on Gaza and Sderot. Every day, one video from Palestine, the other one from Israel. One without the other only would show part of the reality.

My research led me to 'Gaza Sderot - Life In Spite of Everything', a web-documentary by a French company. It follows the lives of men, women and children in two cities on the Israeli Palestinian border. Every day since October 26, 2008, two 2minuted videos are uploaded, one from each side. They are viewed side by side, giving a truly real look at the daily lives of these people. Despite the many dangers (air bombings and rocket attacks, power cuts and lack of food or medicine) the people never stop working, loving, and dreaming. It's been really amazing to get to know the people and follow their lives, and contrast them with how good we have it here in Canada. It's all very inspiring, and makes me want to do something.

Two months later, on February 19, 1942, the lives of thousands of Japanese Americans were dramatically changed when President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066. This order led to the assembly and evacuation and relocation of nearly 122,000 men, women, and children of Japanese ancestry on the west coast of the United States.
