LIQUIDS & BUBBLES - a set on Flickr

by rickydrier & 1 other

Of all the subjects in my stream - this one fascinates me the most. I love capturing one-offs that depend upon the element of chance. Using liquids as a kind of photographic paint allows me to do that.

beauty, romance and simplicity

by blackgoldfish
I particularly love the way this photograph encapsulates what Polaroid photography is all about - capturing the moment in an instant. Most wedding photography is a major production of lights, fancy cameras and sweat; to me this Polaroid shot captures the intimacy of their wedding day so much better.

Japan by Hiroji Kubota

by sbrothier
Modern Japan, the second largest economy in the world, is a land of contradictions. Home to some of the most sophisticated technology and manufacturing, it also has communities whose daily life has changed little in the last 500 years. It is a place of great beauty, both in the landscapes and its celebrations, festivals, and traditional arts. Hiroji Kubota spent four years traveling the length and breadth of his country's many islands, capturing the magnificent diversity of the people and places along the way. From rice paddies to pachinko parlors, ancient temples to the Honda assembly plants, Kubota's lens has captured both the ordinary and the extraordinary of a dually antiquated and modern nation.

Technology News: Social Networking: Our Space

by dimelo
I think we might have taken that kind of CRM as far as possible for the time being. We have all kinds of CRM systems today that systematize and organize our customer facing processes, but what we lack right now are effective ways of capturing customer feedback. With feedback we can know whether or not we're on the right track earlier than the time when we first put a product on the market, and that kind of information serves to save money and improve our business processes in immeasurable ways. So, no offense to my friends who think that social networking is a separate activity, but I really think it's our space.

Scott Stulberg, photographe (Californie, États-Unis)

by Gérard Delisle & 7 others (via)
«I've had many gifts in my life... but maybe the best one of fall was the camera my father gave me when I was 10 years old... With that camera, my photographs let my imagination come to life. ...later, a whole new world opened up for me when my parents built a darkroom for me in our basement... It was countless hours in the darkroom that made me fall in love with photography...» -------- Stulberg : «I feel, just like Cartier-Bresson felt, that the camera is an extension of my eye... Capturing a moment in time keeps us living that moment forever...» -------- «The real journey of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes» Marcel Proust ------- Hyperlien trouvé par hasard par le biais de http://www.stumbleupon.com, catégorie «photography».

Aggregate Knowledge

by cyberien
Discovery Moves Beyond Search Internet search works well, particularly when you know the precise items for which you are looking. What happens, however, when you can’t find the magic words to type into your search box? Discovering the Wisdom of Crowds Successful media and retail players are continually looking for ways to expand content discovery and enable visitors to quickly identify what interests them most. The way this has been done in the past is to employ key-word searching or editorial-based recommendations to “recommend” additional content of interest. Because news and product content can change by the minute, it is extraordinarily challenging for human editors to keep pace with all but the most-visited news stories or products. The net result is an over sampling of some content while the larger database of unseen, yet related content remains under-utilized. Monetizing Your Content Investment Both retail and media sites alike invest significant sums capturing, managing, and promoting their respective content inventory. Statistically, however, most users will only see a very limited percentage of content. Site managers have addressed this visibility challenge by relying on human editorial ranking often in conjunction with costly enterprise content management and search tools. These tools are both expensive and not capable of responding to behavioral changes in real time. The net effect of this is sub-optimal page performance and under-performing click-through rates. Real-Time Relevancy As your content inventory changes, so should the content associations. With Aggregate Knowledge’s Discovery for Media™ and Discovery for Retail™, your content is instantly optimized to changes in user demand. Changes in ad campaigns, price promotions or inventory volume can have important impacts on user behavior. Your site should be able to not only capture that behavioral pattern, but also deliver the content that most resonates with your customer’s interest and intent.
