The design of a physical space can and should take advantage of information architecture (IA) deliverables, in particular when designing an integrated model of IA across environments. The user must be able to easily consult technology-dependent environments such as digital media or printed paper catalogs in line with the information flow carried through the website. Conveying the relevance of information to the user/consumer by means of applying IA principles with a view to designing a crisscross-connecting model of human-information interaction is the focus of these studies.

On pourrait encore évoquer deux conséquences.###Tout d’abord, la prise en considération exclusive d’un support, le disque, au détriment du contenu, les musiques, a freiné dans les bibliothèques publiques le développement des collections musicales multimédias, et en particulier de la musique imprimée, qui fait aujourd’hui l’objet d’une demande exceptionnelle.

la bibliothèque du futur doit accompagner le changement social tout en continuant à résister au consumérisme négatif, doit s’ouvrir aux publics plus et mieux et assurer une pédagogie de la bibliothèque, de ses missions et de son fonctionnement. Ce service de mutualisation des ressources est confronté à l’évolution des usagers (développement des taux de non-inscrits au profit de la consultation ; travail sur documents personnels ; usagers mono-support ; évitement de la bibliothèque au profit de services privés tels que Google ou Amazon) et doit permettre le rassemblement d’une communauté d’usagers culturels, devenir lieu de vie, lieu collectif ouvert à tous, lieu où l’on échange. La construction et le maintien des bibliothèques du futur dépendent donc incontestablement de l’évolution des mentalités.
