VIDEO: Femmes taillées pour l'amour

by Noel Basile

Studio and Garden: Serizawa Keisuke and Textile Design

by sbrothier
Another of the exciting shows I saw while on my recent trip to NYC was a survey of the textile works of Serizawa Keisuke (1895-1984) at Japan Society, a Japanese designer who took his inspiration from the traditional techniques of stencil dyeing. This kimono was stunning in its color harmonies and surprising shapes. There were others just as dramatically beautiful. Some of the most startling designs were on Noren, or entrance curtains, their shapes strong and simple.

CAN Outreach blog » Blog Archive » Telling stories using maps

by sbrothier
The first thing Joy Suliman focuses on in the morning is the Alessi kettle sitting on her stove top. The funky Italian design prepares her for a great day. Just looking at the slick lines and quirky details makes her feel good as she pours water into it for her cup of tea. In gratitude to how this beautiful design makes her feel, the former CAN project manager decided her kettle’s story deserved to be told.

40 Beautiful Examples of Bokeh Photography | The Photo Argus - A Photographer's Resource

by ghis (via)
Bokeh is a very subjective thing. Its hard to say what is “good” bokeh and what is “bad”. In my opinion anything that is less distracting and adds something to the image would be considered good and anything distracting or confusing to the image would be considered bad. Based on that I have gathered some examples of what I think is beautiful bokeh photography.

Information is not beautiful: Afghanistan | News | guardian.co.uk

by karlcow

Canadian forces are actually suffering the most. They're mostly deployed in the southern Kandahar, which adjoins the province of Helmand, where the bulk of British troops are posted. Both are Taliban strongholds.

And, if wounded soldiers are factored in, a shocking picture emerges.

abc card

by blackgoldfish
We have a birthday tradition in our family we’ve been doing since we were kids. We go around the dinner table and each person takes a letter of the alphabet, and we say something nice about the birthday girl/boy. A is for Artistic! B is for the Beautiful! We go around and around the table until we get to Z
