Un petit teaser aujourd’hui, pour un webdocumentaire très attendu cet automne. Réalisé par David Dufresne et Philippe Brault, il se plonge dans une région à prisons du Colorado, aux Etats-Unis. «36.000 âmes et 13 prisons» prévient la seule page accessible sur Internet pour l’instant.

Quelque part dans le Colorado. Un coin reculé de 36.000 âmes et 13 prisons, dont Supermax, la nouvelle Alcatraz, avec couloirs donnant sur la mort. Prison Valley, c’est ça : un road movie dans une ville-prison où même ceux qui vivent dehors vivent dedans. Une plongée dans ce qu’on appelle fièrement ici : l’industrie carcérale.

Après le très beau succès de la série documentaire pionnière "Gaza-Sderot, la vie malgré tout", créée pour Arte.tv fin 2008, deux nouvelles expériences liant investigation et interaction sont prévues : Prison Valley, un document radiographiant une ville-pénitencier du Colorado ; et Cuba/Miami, sur le quotidien des jeunes générations de ces deux villes.

Fort du succès du web-documentaire «Gaza/Sderot», la chaîne ambitionne de produire 6 à 10 nouveaux web-documentaires chaque année à compter de l’an prochain. Les deux premiers proposés sur arte.tv seront «Prison Valley», un reportage au cœur d’un pénitencier du Colorado, et «Cuba/Miami», qui suivra la vie d’habitants des deux villes en parallèle, sur le même modèle que «Gaza/Sderot».

At the Independent Magazine Advisory Group’s sixth annual meeting in Boulder, Colorado this week, Bob Sacks, president of Precision Media Group, offered six key properties for what a magazine is.
Tellingly, his were platform-neutral:
1. It’s metered. It’s paginated. It has a beginning, middle and end.
2. It’s edited, or curated.
3. It’s designed.
4. It’s date-stamped.
5. It’s permanent. Once created, it can’t be changed.
6. It’s periodic. It has a calendar or rhythm. It has a series of issues.

Jesse LeDoux's LeDouxville

Born in Portland, Oregon, Jesse LeDoux worked for many years as an art director for Seattle-based Sub Pop Records where he created iconic album and poster artwork for such artists as the Shins ('Best album packaging' Grammy nominee for Chutes Too Narrow), Iron and Wine and Death Cab for Cutie before leaving in 2004 to focus on his client-based and personal work at LeDouxville. Parallel to working on commercial illustration and collaborative projects for such clients as Nike, Kidrobot, Giro, Penguin UK, Rome Snowboards and Target, he has exhibited internationally. Most recently, his work was included in the Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial (2007) and an installation at the University of Maryland (2008). A large-scale mural of his work can currently be seen in downtown Denver, Colorado. He currently lives and works in Providence, RI.

Le président américain a également demandé au Congrès d'autoriser le forage dans l'Arctic National Wildlife, une réserve naturelle en Alaska jusque-là interdite à l'exploitation pétrolière, ainsi que dans les zones autour du Green River Basin dans les Etats du Colorado, de l'Utah et du Wyoming.
