llimllib's cherry-blossom at master - GitHub

by karlcow

Cherry Blossom is a blogging system written in Python. It was written specifically because I had a lot of pyblosxom blog entries on my previous blog, but I wanted to use cherrypy instead of plain-ol cgi. It adds features like object publishing, session support, access to lots of cherrypy plugins, access to GET and POST vars as method parameters, and others. This software's been running my blog (http://billmill.org) for over two years now, and has survived a couple redditings and a flood from stumbleupon, all without a hiccup.

40 Beautiful Examples of Bokeh Photography | The Photo Argus - A Photographer's Resource

by ghis (via)
Bokeh is a very subjective thing. Its hard to say what is “good” bokeh and what is “bad”. In my opinion anything that is less distracting and adds something to the image would be considered good and anything distracting or confusing to the image would be considered bad. Based on that I have gathered some examples of what I think is beautiful bokeh photography.

Peter Principle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

by karlcow

The Peter Principle is the principle that "In a Hierarchy Every Employee Tends to Rise to His Level of Incompetence." It was formulated by Dr. Laurence J. Peter and Raymond Hull in their 1969 book The Peter Principle, a humorous treatise which also introduced the "salutary science of Hierarchiology", "inadvertently founded" by Peter. It holds that in a hierarchy, members are promoted so long as they work competently. Sooner or later they are promoted to a position at which they are no longer competent (their "level of incompetence"), and there they remain, being unable to earn further promotions. This principle can be modeled and has theoretical validity.[1] Peter's Corollary states that "in time, every post tends to be occupied by an employee who is incompetent to carry out his duties" and adds that "work is accomplished by those employees who have not yet reached their level of incompetence".

Michael(tm) Smith » WebKit adds support for the HTML5 <ruby> element

by night.kame

Current versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer also have native support for ruby, and you can also get ruby support in Firefox by installing Piro’s XHTML Ruby add-on (and for more details, see his XHTML ruby add-on info page) — so we are well on the way to seeing the HTML5 ruby feature supported across a range of browsers.

Maintenant que Ruby a gagné son petit autocollant "HTML 5", les développeurs de navigateurs s'y intéressent. Comme quoi, le web tient à peu de chose.

WordPress › More Fields « WordPress Plugins

by mozkart & 1 other (via)
More Fields is a WordPress plugin that adds boxes to the Write/Edit page. These boxes contains input fields, so that additional (more) fields can be added to a post. For example, if you write about books, you can add a box where you can enter title and author, etc. The boxes can be placed either to the right or to the left on the Write/Edit page. In addition, the new version of More Fields enables you to define post types, which are custom Write/Edit pages that contains a pre-defined set of boxes. For example, you write about books and you write about your holidays, then you can define a post type 'Book' and a post type 'Holiday' each containing the input boxes relevant to each type of text. You can also set pre-defined categories, tags and templates for each post type.
