国际奥委会已经决定，以後不再举办如此规模的奥运会了。罗格反复提及要警惕“奥运会巨人症”。第一次提出要给奥运“减肥”的计划时是在雅典奥运会，到了2012年伦敦举行奥运会时，这个计划将全部到位。该计划包括启用临时的看台，运动员更衣室、训练设施等，而不搭建永久性的建筑。
