four

Today, my baby, you turn four. When did this happen? Was it not just yesterday that I had to put you inside my coat to keep you warm? Now look at you! Almost as tall as your sister with just as much spunk. Happy Birthday my punkin.

What four is looking like so far:

You pronounce your Rs as if you lived in Boston your whole life- A feather is a featheh.

You sing from dawn to dusk- singsong monologues of your life.

You eat a peanut butter sandwich every single day.

You wake up hungry and must immediately eat a granola bar or your world collapses.

You love coffee

Your favorite color is blue

You swing so high that I have to hold in my own concern because I see how much you need to do it.

When you get mad, I suggest people step away, as you get a bit ferocious.

You will brush my hair four an hour straight, and therefore I'll not ever cut it.

You like to get your back lightly scratched, just like Mama.

Happy Birthday, my sweet girl. Every day with you is a treasure and a surprise. I love you.

Ever notice how people texting at night have that eerie blue glow?

Or wake up ready to write down the Next Great Idea, and get blinded by your computer screen?

During the day, computer screens look good—they're designed to look like the sun. But, at 9PM, 10PM, or 3AM, you probably shouldn't be looking at the sun.
f.lux

F.lux fixes this: it makes the color of your computer's display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day.

It's even possible that you're staying up too late because of your computer. You could use f.lux because it makes you sleep better, or you could just use it just because it makes your computer look better.

Sustainable Architecture in Japan - a greenhouse for a house! | Modern House Designs

Finally, a greenhouse which can also accommodate people: the Camouflage House. Why should we continue considering that greenhouses are suitable only for plants? It's not the case anymore. This house by Hiroshi Iguchi is part of the Fifth World project which aims to promote eco friendly, sustainable architecture. The house takes natural elements and blends them all into the design of the interior. Warm, natural materials are used. Wood for the floors, light, traditional Japanese panels for compartments and white canvas to protect the interior from excessive heat. Even more, some of the trees were literally incorporated into the house, by letting them grow up to the sky in between the walls of the house. The rooms just go around them, surrounding all four sides and making themselves one with the green environment. Living close to the heart of nature was never so well understood and put into practice. A Camouflage House by Hiroshi Iguchi? Yes, please!

Just craving for it… gosh

Flickr: Discussing Split Toning in Adobe Lightroom

In a nut shell it works like this, at least with B&W this is what I have found to work good for me :-)

1.)Make the image B&W using the Greyscale Mixer, curves and all other tools to get the image just how you want it from a tonality standpoint

2.)Move down to the split toning section. It has 3 sections the top one is for Hightlights and has two sliders, the bottom one is for shadows and has two sliders, and the middle slider sets the midway point between what is a higlight and what is a shadow

3.)Starting with the highlights slide the saturation slider all the way to the right. This will give you a great idea as to what color tint the highlights will get. Then slide the top slider until you get to the color you want. In my sample image I set the tint to 42. Then slide the saturation level all the way down

4.)Move down to the shadows and do the same thing. I set the color for 38

5.)Play with the saturation sliders until you get the effect you want. The more saturation the more tint the image will get

6.)Finally slide the middle slider to tell lightroom where to make the shift between highlights and shadows

************************************************************8

When you get a tint scheme you like save it as a preset. Remember however to uncheck everything but "Split Toning"

Save different saturation levels for each tint setting you like.

In this example I posted I call it my Sepia Tones and I saved the follwing settings. For all of these I set Highlights for 42 and shadows for 38 and then set both saturations at the same numbers listed below

Warming Sepia 5
Light Sepia 11
Medium Sepia 28
Deep Sepia 40
Ultra Deep Sepia 70

by saving them as presets it makes it very easy to cycle through them. Of course every image is different and these are just meant to get you in the ball park. You will also need to adjust the midpoint for each image.

The above is great for a Traditional Sepia Tone. If you want more of a selenium tone set the Highlights for 34 and the Shadows for 237. This will give you warm highlights and cool shadows

Goa has something that keeps tourists flocking out here and in hordes. A kind of hypnotism that catches hold of your sensibilities, and makes you feel nostalgic to come back again and again.

Spectacular Climate of Goa, warm and soothing, glorious history richly preserved in churches, forts, traditional homes, villages and cities. You come home to Goa, an exoticism that greets with all cosmopolitan vigor and enthusiasm. Spectacular pageantry, colorful Festivals of Goa, warm and gracious people and superb cuisine, Goa is one of India’s most laid back, yet sophisticated and exciting, destinations.

Firefox Tip: Reopen the last closed tab with Ctrl Shift T - Lifehacker

The heavens opened and a bright warm light shone down today when I discovered the Firefox keyboard shortcut that re-opens the most recently closed tab: Ctrl-Shift-T. (Cmd-Shift-T for Mac users.)

This one ranks up there with Ctrl-T (new tab) and Ctrl L (go to address bar). Our time together was short and clicky, but now it's over between us, tab bar right-click menu. Fare thee well. — Gina Trapani
