kingdom and renamed it ryukyu han at the time the qing dynasty of china asserted sovereignty over the islands of the ryūkyū kingdom since the ryūkyū kingdom was a tributary nation of china the okinawa han became a prefecture of japan in 1879 while all other hans had became prefectures of japan in 1872 following the battle of okinawa and the end of world war ii in 1945 okinawa was under the united states administration for 27 years during the trusteeship rule the usaf established numerous military bases on the ryukyu islands in 1972 the u s government returned the islands to japanese administration under the treaty of mutual cooperation and security the united states forces japan usfj have maintained a large military presence 27000 personnel including 15000 marines contingents from the navy army and air force and their 22 000 family members are stationed in okinawa 2 18 of the main island was occupied by us military bases and 75 of all usfj bases are located in okinawa prefecture 3 85 of the okinawans oppose the large presence of the usfj and demand the consolidation reduction and removal of us military bases from okinawa 4 repeated accidents and crimes committed by NEW YORK, April 16 (UPI) - A New York lottery winner said he disguised himself with a marker-drawn beard when he accepted his prize to protect his new fortune from thieves.Michael Perez, 51, said he used a marker to draw a goatee on his face and further disguised himself with a hat and sunglasses so thieves would not recognize him while he accepted the $14 million ceremonial check from the New York Lottery, the New York Post reported Wednesday."I've got to look out for my family," Perez said of his disguise.Perez, a former warehouse worker who recently became unemployed, said he used a portion of his income-tax refund to buy a lottery ticket with six randomly chosen numbers: 1, 8, 10, 31, 52 and 57.The choice paid off for Perez in the state's April 1 drawing."The first thing I want to do is take care of all my debts," "But before I do anything serious, I've got to go to Disney World." he said.

According to the prevailing tax laws, one can save tax on the investments in noted mutual funds, insurance, ULIPs upto Rs. 1 Lakh. ULIPs are work as mutual funds exception, they provide insurance also. However linking the insurance with the investment is debatable. In my view insurance should be taken by everyone but at the same time it should not combined with investment. Investments are something different to the insurance. Another point to be noted here is all the ULIPs charge 20% to 40% of the investment as administration and other charges at the initial stages. So we cannot expect the high returns until and unless we continue investing atleast 5 years. For instance the ULIP companies charges 20% for the first year, around 12% in the next year, 4% afterwards (Applicable for some schemes only, may vary for each scheme). Coming to the mutual funds, the total charges must not cross 2.5% of the total investment. The investments may have to keep for 2-3 years. Tax saver funds provide the advantage of investing in equity apart from the tax benefit with much lesser administration charges. So I believe the tax saver funds beat the ULIPs. I believe the invester should make wise decision when starting his investment in the equity. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages.
