If you ask most Firefox (Firefox) fans the main reason they won’t switch to Chrome, a good majority of them will probably cite its lack of extensions. But that might change, because Chrome extensions are coming — perhaps soon. And for users of the developer’s build of Chrome, they’re already here. So for those of you brave enough to use the unstable developers release of Chrome, here are 6 extensions that social media addicts will want to install.
BTW, Just a small rant... The Notes back end is way better than exchange. We were running 2000 users on One domino server with no issues. We have invested in 10 servers for outlook and over a mil in emc consulting. Personally I’m dumfounded at the decision to switch.

]]>A web-based Flickr viewer called Fluidr: www.fluidr.com it's in alpha at the moment but is quite stable. Fluidr is unique in a few ways. It offers a continuous pagination (infinite scroll) interface like Darckr and Flickriver but seamlessly turns into a slideshow with the press of a key (try hitting SPACEBAR). It also allows for adding faves and comments in the same interface (scroll or slideshow) rather than having to switch to a more cluttered one. Fluidr's interface is very simple, but allows you to view Flickr content in many ways. You can do the usual Explore/User/User Set/User Tag/Global Tag/Group Pool views, but you can also chose to explore a specific date using a calendar picker, view interesting videos from today or a date range (or an arbitrary date) and filter many of the previously mentioned views by photos only and videos only. Despite these options, it uses a common two line header that (I hope at least) isn't too confusing.
If you use the Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Apple Safari browsers to conduct PayPal transactions, now would be a good time to switch over to the decidedly more secure Firefox alternative.
Input Director is a Windows application that lets you control multiple Windows systems using the keyboard/mouse attached to one computer. It is designed for folks who have two (or more) computers set up at home and find themselves regularly sliding from one system to the other (and wearing out the carpet in the process!). With Input Director, you can share a single keyboard/mouse across a set of systems. You switch which system receives the input either by hotkey or by moving the cursor so that it transitions from one screen to the other (in a very similar fashion to a multi-monitor setup). The idea being that you can position the monitors from two or more systems in a row and use a shared keyboard/mouse to control all of them.

HTTP Compression is a wonderful technology that accomplishes a lot of different things. It allows faster page serving to clients and lower server costs due to lowered bandwidth (these two being enough for me to implement). There are a handful of articles out there that explain how to implement HTTP Compression in Internet Information Server (IIS) 6.0, but I haven’t been able to find a nice step-by-step article, so I decided to set one up. In this how-to, I’ll briefly explain what HTTP Compression is and how it works in IIS 6.0, and then provide step-by-step instructions on how to implement it because it’s not as simple as flipping a switch. In fact, there are many things in multiple places on the server you have to properly configure to implement HTTP Compression.
Shut your Mac down, don’t get up... I bought an Apple Mac Mini to use as a media center. Apple ships OS X Leopard with Front Row, which is great, except I found an important feature lacking: you need a keyboard to shut your Apple down. Not what you want in a chique remote controlled home cinema setting. I made a Shut Down plug-in for Front Row. It appears there are a lot of people that don’t want to get up to switch off their Mac up after watching a movie!
