Lessons Learned Shooting with the Canon 5D Mark II :: digitalartwork – Multimedia Journalism

For the Michael Jackson Memorial piece I worked on, we decided before I left for L.A. that we would use the Canon 5D Mark II to try and push the look of the piece, and to try something new. The first thing I did, is call up a freelancer, Patrick Burke, to run sound. Patrick used to be an AC (Assistant Camera) in L.A. so he came with all the right tools, including a film slate that we used to sync audio from a Marantz PMD660 to the video footage of the 5D.

Apolis Activism is an independent contemporary brand that began with dreams and thread. Three brothers — Raan, Shea, and Stenn Parton — created a unique bridge between commerce and sustainable development. Through their travels they discovered stories of struggle and survival from visionaries and activists for change. These experiences shaped their perspective, resulting in a union of ideal and action. They anchored this vision in the word Apolis, which translates as a “global citizen” — where there are no flags and no borders, humanity is our common cause and greatest priority.

Long exposure is really amazing photography technique to capture light and movement. When an image is taken including stationary and moving subjects (for example, a fixed street and moving cars or a camera within a car showing a fixed dash-board and moving scenery) using a slow shutter speed, interesting effects, such as light trails occur.

Peter Principle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Peter Principle is the principle that "In a Hierarchy Every Employee Tends to Rise to His Level of Incompetence." It was formulated by Dr. Laurence J. Peter and Raymond Hull in their 1969 book The Peter Principle, a humorous treatise which also introduced the "salutary science of Hierarchiology", "inadvertently founded" by Peter. It holds that in a hierarchy, members are promoted so long as they work competently. Sooner or later they are promoted to a position at which they are no longer competent (their "level of incompetence"), and there they remain, being unable to earn further promotions. This principle can be modeled and has theoretical validity.[1] Peter's Corollary states that "in time, every post tends to be occupied by an employee who is incompetent to carry out his duties" and adds that "work is accomplished by those employees who have not yet reached their level of incompetence".

Canon XSi/450D

"After agonizing for weeks over which digital single lens reflex camera to buy, I bought the Canon XSi /450D, my first DSLR. The XSi has several improvements over its predecessor: a faster processor, improved nine-point autofocus, Live View with dual autofocus modes, spot metering, a larger LCD screen and a larger, brighter viewfinder. It also has an updated menu system.
In these blog entries, I share my settings and experiences with the XSi, as well as what I’ve learned about using a DSLR."
