Apache annonce la sortie d'Apache Sling : un framework Web Open Source pour rendre le développement Java plus ludique et faciliter son utilisation. Sling permet de développer de multiples types d'application Web, y compris des blogs et des wiki. Sling fournit un fichier JAR (Java Archive) pour aider à démarrer avec le framework. Il aide à l'implémentation d'applications gérant du contenu sous une architecture RESTful. Il fournit une plate-forme pour mettre à jour les données et gérer leur accès.

All these software distributions are licensed under the GNU Public License for non-commercial and research use. Even though the Hadoop framework is written in Java, programs for Hadoop need not to be coded in Java but can also be developed in other languages like Python or C (the latter since version 0.14.1). However, the documentation and the most prominent Python example on the Hadoop home page could make you think that you must translate your Python code using Jython into a Java jar file. Obviously, this is not very convenient and can even be problematic if you depend on Python features not provided by Jython. Another issue of the Jython approach is the overhead of writing your Python program in such a way that it can interact with Hadoop - just have a look at the example in ${HADOOP_INSTALL}/src/examples/python/WordCount.py and you see what I mean. I still recommend to have at least a look at the Jython approach and maybe even at the new C MapReduce API called Pipes, it's really interesting. Having that said, the ground is prepared for the purpose of this tutorial: writing a Hadoop MapReduce program in a more Pythonic way, i.e. in a way you should be familiar with.
The phar extension provides the phar stream wrapper and the Phar class for manipulating self-contained PHP Archive (phar) files. The Phar class can be used to create and to extract contents of phar files as well as iterating over their contents. PHP Archive files (Phars) are special collections of files that can be transparently run right out of the file, similar to Java's jar archive files.
IzPack is an installers generator for the Java platform. It produces lightweight installers that can be run on any operating system where a Java virtual machine is available. Depending on the operating system, it can be launched by a double-click or a simple java -jar installer.jar from a shell. The most common use is to distribute applications for the Java platform, but you can also use it for other kinds of projects. The main benefit of IzPack is that it provides a clean and unique way of distributing a project to users using different operating systems. IzPack is reported to run on: Unix-like systems, mostly Linux and FreeBSD variants Mac OS X Windows 2000, XP and Vista.
