Pourquoi pas? Le roman a toujours été contaminé. Le propre du roman est la contamination. Cela donnera-t-il de bons romans? À la condition que la littérature n’oublie pas la littérature, que l’hypertextualité inclue l’intertextualité. La force des récits de Sebald est liée non seulement au jeu du texte et des photos qu’il a inventé, mais aussi à leur épaisseur littéraire. Un roman dense de lectures n’est pas un roman érudit, mais un roman dont l’expérience du monde comprend l’expérience littéraire. Quand Littell parle de Blanchot ou s’inspire de Bataille, c’est sans doute un peu appliqué, un peu scolaire. Mais comment lui en vouloir quand tant de romans français contemporains se referment sur eux-mêmes parce qu’ils ont aussi peur de la littérature que de la technique? Pour faire un roman-monde, et même si, et surtout si c’est pour dire l’horreur du monde, comme Vassili Grossman dans Vie et Destin, au plus profond il faut aimer le monde, y compris la littérature.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/blockquote&gt;</description>
