There is so much about this crazy life to be grateful for. So much goodness. So much support. So much love. Even when the steps take great effort, and the breath is labored, there is beauty unfolding. In shadow and in light.
In this series of pictures, the two photographers - father and son - present Shanghai between fiction and reality as the ‘city of tomorrow’. The focal point of their photographic work is the architecture of the city’s streets, a critical investigation and analysis encompassing the subject of urban landscape. In a long-term project begun in November 2002, they have been documenting the metropolis Shanghai as an urban composition, a man-made architectural living space and enviroment of unprecedented and unimaginably gigantic dimensions. The resulting images are of immense visual beauty.
Vintage maps are beautifully decorating this photo holder. Maps have been decoupaged onto a wooden block and the hand shaped wire is perfect for holding a photo or two of recent travels. Each one will be uniquely adorned with various destinations. No two are alike!

Not to worry, there are no side effects. It seems as though beauty has been expelled from the world of contemporary art. Today, to say of a work of art that it is lovely, beautiful or pretty, is to denigrate it rather than to commend it.

I particularly love the way this photograph encapsulates what Polaroid photography is all about - capturing the moment in an instant. Most wedding photography is a major production of lights, fancy cameras and sweat; to me this Polaroid shot captures the intimacy of their wedding day so much better.
Modern Japan, the second largest economy in the world, is a land of contradictions. Home to some of the most sophisticated technology and manufacturing, it also has communities whose daily life has changed little in the last 500 years. It is a place of great beauty, both in the landscapes and its celebrations, festivals, and traditional arts. Hiroji Kubota spent four years traveling the length and breadth of his country's many islands, capturing the magnificent diversity of the people and places along the way. From rice paddies to pachinko parlors, ancient temples to the Honda assembly plants, Kubota's lens has captured both the ordinary and the extraordinary of a dually antiquated and modern nation.
What does music look like? The Shape of Song is an attempt to answer this seemingly paradoxical question. The custom software in this work draws musical patterns in the form of translucent arches, allowing viewers to see--literally--the shape of any composition available on the Web. The resulting images reflect the full range of musical forms, from the deep structure of Bach to the crystalline beauty of Philip Glass.
Like the prose of a beloved classic, source code can be appreciated for both its functional value and the aesthetic beauty.
