Aaron Koblin is an an artist specializing in data visualization. His work takes social and infrastructural data and uses it to examine cultural trends and emergent patterns. Aaron’s work has been shown at international festivals including Ars Electronica, SIGGRAPH, OFFF, the Japan Media Arts Festival, and TED. He received the National Science foundation's first place award for science visualization and is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. As Technology Lead of Google’s Creative Lab in San Francisco, Aaron helped to launch Chrome Experiments, a website showcasing JavaScript work from designers around the world.

In its current form, Jolicloud doesn't really add a whole lot of extra value beyond what you can already get with the Ubuntu Netbook Remix and a few Prism launchers. If you add the Jolicloud APT repository to the sources list in a regular Ubuntu 9.04 desktop install, you can easily install packages for various Prism launchers without even having to bother installing the Jolicloud distro or using its Web service. This gives you roughly the same experience minus the slightly creepy social networking features.

Arduino is an open-source electronics prototyping platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software. It's intended for artists, designers, hobbyists, and anyone interested in creating interactive objects or environments. Arduino can sense the environment by receiving input from a variety of sensors and can affect its surroundings by controlling lights, motors, and other actuators. The microcontroller on the board is programmed using the Arduino programming language (based on Wiring) and the Arduino development environment (based on Processing). Arduino projects can be stand-alone or they can communicate with software on running on a computer (e.g. Flash, Processing, MaxMSP). The boards can be built by hand or purchased preassembled; the software can be downloaded for free. The hardware reference designs (CAD files) are available under an open-source license, you are free to adapt them to your needs. Arduino received an Honory Mention in the Digital Communities section of the 2006 Ars Electronica Prix.

Les résidences de recherche et de création et les productions réalisées dans le cadre d'[ars] numerica tournent autour d'un objet central qui est la scène numérique. Par ses relations aux arts plastiques, au spectacle vivant, aux formes émergentes d'expression, cette scène inverse les caractéristiques de la niche écologique réservée habituellement aux arts numériques : ils ne sont plus annexés à des structures culturelles existantes. Dans une forme de retournement de la sphère d'activités, ils trouvent là un espace dédié et encadré par des moyens humains et techniques qui prend en compte la spécificité des projets proposés. Les projets sont liés à des partenariats plus ou moins nombreux. Si, dans la plupart des cas, [ars] numerica n'assume pas seul les moyens de production, son existence est par contre nécessaire à la réalisation de tels projets : c'est le chaînon basique qui leur offre une plateforme d'existence prototypale à l'échelle 1, avec un temps mesuré d'essais et d'exploitation. Ce que ne peuvent offrir très exceptionnellement scènes théâtrales, musées, galeries ou universités. Pour de telles réalisations la scène numérique répond à une demande très forte à la fois dans le domaine culturel et économique. Il n'existe pas pour l'instant de telle scène avec ces caractéristiques et issue d'une détermination culturelle, au niveau international.
